Placements & Internships :
The students are not offered any kind of internship from college. Though they can apply for internships on various websites during their third year and do their internship during the summer break. Summer break is from May-June, so the students have to choose the internship dates wisely.
Companies that have hired students from college are IVY Comptech and Customised Technologies. Since the college has been recently centralised only a few companies know about it. The average salary figures range from 3-5 lacs. The highest salary offered on campus was 8.5 lacs. Only a few students get placed that to mostly in the IT industry. The students can also apply for Off-Campus Placements and Walk In drives. They must be on the lookout for opportunities from the beginning of the final year. An advantageous point would be knowledge of programming languages. The students can also appear for ELitmus and AMCAT. They should set up accounts on various websites that offer jobs to freshers.
Most of the students start preparing for GATE(for M.Tech), CAT(for MBA) and GRE,TOEFL,IELTS for studying in foreign countries, immediately after 2nd year.
According to me, it will be better choice to start preparing for competitive exams immediately after 2nd year, rather than waiting for companies to come for placements.
The alumni network is not very strong. Though the passout students are quite helpful once the current student gets in touch with them. They can get information about the passout students through teachers and their seniors.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
Institute of Technology - Guru Ghasidas University also called as ITGGV or ITGGU was established in 1997. It was upgraded to a central university in the year 2009. The college provides four-year undergraduate degree in seven departments (Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Production, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science and Information Technology) and two-year postgraduate degree in two departments(Mechanical and Chemical).
The eligibility criteria is the same as for applying for JEE-Mains (formerly AIEEE).
The students can get admission in the college through their JEE-Mains(formerly AIEEE) rank, there is no specific entrance exam for Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya.
The student will have to appear for the counseling and they will be allotted a seat in any government college according to their ranks.
After the seat allotment, students will have to report to the college to confirm their seat.
They will also have to submit their documents to the Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya college authority along with the application form that is available on the website.
Fees & Scholarships :
The college fee is nominal. The college/course fee per year is 22000 INR(round figures). The first year fee is nearly 24000 INR(round figures).
The students can apply for the scholarships offered by their respective home states. They need to register themselves on the websites and submit their documents, caste certificate, parent's annual income certificate. There is a criteria to get the scholarship that mostly includes caste and annual income of parents.
Almost all students who fulfill the qualifying criteria get the scholarship. The scholarship amount varies from state to state and is almost equal to or maybe a little more than the college fees(i.e. 22000)
No loans are needed as the Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya college fees is very less.
Academics & Faculty :
Classes are conducted from Monday to Friday(Saturday and Sunday is holiday). The class timings are from 9am to 5pm or 10am to 6pm. There is an hour break from 1pm to 2pm for lunch. The classes are conducted in either first half or the second half. The classes are conducted regularly. There are 4 to 5 lectures everyday. The labs are conducted batch wise, so the students do not have to attend labs everyday of the week.
The quality of teaching is high and all the teachers are good. The students are taught in a language they understand. The teachers are cooperative.
According to the college syllabus, the students need to focus a lot on 2nd and 3rd-year subjects because these subjects are important for GATE. The students can join coaching if they want for GATE, CAT.
There is no such stress on projects until final year. So the students can utilize their time in preparing for competitive exams.
Overall experience in college is okay. The students will get to learn a lot, not only in academics but also in other aspects.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
The quality of classrooms are okay. The benches have a lot of stuff scribbled on them. The classrooms are non-AC. Only few classrooms have projector installed. The computer labs are fine. System with i7 processors have been installed in the labs recently. On the other hand hardware labs for electronics and communication department, chemical department lack many equipments. Kits in the electronics lab are not in a proper working state. Most of them are damaged. So the students face a lot of problem during practical examination. The workshop for mechanical and industrial production is fine. You won't find Wi-Fi everywhere in the college. Wi-Fi is installed only in hostels and some departments. The Wi-Fi functions properly very rarely. Most of the time, it is difficult to connect to the available Wi-Fi network.
The college has its own health centre that runs under the guidance of a highly qualified doctor.
There is a Punjab National Bank branch and ATM, Bank of India branch and ATM, and State Bank of India ATM within campus. There is also a post office within campus.
There is a Guest House for the stay of guest lecturers.
There is one boys hostel and one girls hostel. The boys hostel is only for BTech students, but there is no separate girls' hostel for BTech. The hostels are fine. But the girls' hostel is way too strict. If the girls wish to join any coaching, they should prefer to stay outside the hostel. The hostel fee is 2350 INR per year. Mess fees depends on the mess. The dining halls are fine.
There are PGs and private hostels available outside college. A group of 4-5 girls can also rent a flat. The girls should prefer staying near Seepat Chowk rather than Koni. The Koni area is highly unsafe for girls. There are a lot of tiffin services available outside so there will be no problem of food.
The mess food is okay. The mess fees is paid on monthly basis. Mess fees depends on the serving mess. The canteen food doesn't have much variety. Most of the stuff in the canteen is unhealthy.
The canteen provides:
Samosa (6 INR per piece)
Aalo bonda (5 INR per piece)
Patties (10 INR per piece)

The student societies include Udaan, Abhinartan, Urchins, Tarang. Udaan is the college magazine, that has many boards like the technical board, english board, hindi board, marketing board, photography board. All these boards work together on the college magazine.
Abhinartan is the college dance group that includes some of the awesome dancers from college. Urchins is the college dramatics group. It includes some of the best actors. There are festivals on campus as well. Technical festival Equilibrio is celebrated every year in the month of January or February. It includes many technical events and cultural events as well. The students can participate in the events and workshops that are held during this festival. These events and workshops help students gain practical knowledge at the industrial level. They get to learn something that is not taught in the class. Many fun events are also conducted.
Sports week is also conducted. Students from all courses participate in sports. If the students are good at some particular sport they should definitely participate. Students are also given opportunity to play for the university in other colleges.
Life in college is fine. You can have great time with friends. The campus is covered with trees. The weather is fine during July-February. After February it gets really hot. The rainfall is quite frequent in the months of July,August and September. The campus looks beautiful during the spring and the rainy season. You can enjoy the greenery in the campus. The college has three lakes and a temple too.
Couples getting frisky in college campus can lead to notice to parents after a couple of warnings.
