It is a well-established institute in Kolkata, West Bengal, known for its quality technical education. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission and awarded the distinction of a five star University by NAAC. At present, the institute consists of sixteen departments, spread over the old campus and the Salt Lake campus. It's a premier institute offering ample opportunities to the students in the field of technical education. In 1906, National Council of Education (NCE) was set up to impart literary, scientific and technical education on a national basis.
Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jadavpur University was converted in 1955. The spirit of national education came from Raja Subodh Chandra Mallik. The road on which Jadavpur University is located is named Brojendra Kishore Roy Choudhury and is dedicated to Raja Subodh Chandra Mallik.
It is at present a premier internationally recognised university of the country
