Bangalore University Scholarship Details

Bangalore University offers scholarships to eligible applicants. However, a student can only receive one scholarship. Candidates residing in the free dormitory are ineligible for any other free ship or scholarship offered by the university or the government. Further details regarding the various Bangalore University scholarships are mentioned below.

List of Scholarships

• Karnataka students from SC and ST categories can apply for Government of India Post-Matric Scholarships. The Social Welfare Department offers day scholarships and hostel scholarships to SC and ST candidates (allotted to affiliated Government Colleges) in Karnataka whose parents' yearly income is less than or equivalent to Rs. 2,50,000.
• Candidates belonging to minorities (i.e., Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, Anglo-Indians, Jains, etc.) whose parents' annual income is less than Rs. 44,500 are eligible to apply for encouragement fund/ fees reimbursement from the Minorities Welfare Department (MWD) according to MWD's rules. Minorities Scholarships are handled by the Minorities Welfare Department, GOK Bangalore, and OBC Scholarships are administered by the District Office of Backward Classes Welfare Department, GOK Bangalore.
• The Director of Collegiate Education administers the national merit scholarships for top-ranking Bangalore University students.
• Special scholarships for children of government/university employees who die in the line of duty, administered by the Director of Collegiate Education or the university, depending on the case.
• University Grants Commission (UGC) postgraduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child for non-professional postgraduate studies administered by UGC. Girls who are the family's only child or twin daughters are only eligible to apply for the Bangalore University scholarship.
• The "Hon'ble Vice Chancellor's Merit Scholarship" was established for deserving students (1st to 5th Ranks) who fall below the government of Karnataka's poverty line. Each department of Bangalore University, Bangalore, would receive a scholarship of Rs. 500/- each month for ten months each year. Government orders from the Government of Karnataka have defined BPL. Students in the payment category, self-financing courses, and those admitted for a second PG course are not eligible for this scholarship. An affidavit stating that they are not Double PG and not in the payment category, self-financing courses, and those admitted for a second PG course are not eligible for this scholarship must be enclosed. Students who have claimed any other scholarships are not only eligible for this scholarship. 

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates studying in the same stage of education in a different topic after passing one stage of education would be ineligible.
• Students who complete their educational career in one professional line, such as L.L.B. after B.Ed, are not eligible.
