DU grading system 2024 is based on the CBCS grading scheme of 0 to 10 points. Candidates must secure 40% in both theory and practical to qualify with ‘Pass’ status.
DU grading system 2024 and DU passing mark have undergone several changes. As per the new grading system in DU scheme, the distribution of weightage on end-semester examinations will be lower than the internal assessment, which is 56% and 90 out of 160 marks, making it 45:55 in terms of ratio.

DU Passing Marks 2024
DU passing marks and internal and semester exam weightage has been distributed in a 25:75 ratio. On the other hand, the semester exam weightage is based on the exam paper. Students can check the ratios of the weightage distribution for internal assessment below.
Particulars | Weightage |
Class Tests and Quizzes | 10% |
Assignments and Reports | 10% |
Attendance | 5% |
To qualify for the semester, candidates must score 40% in theory and 40% in practical in all subjects. For example, if a student secures above 40% in theory, but zero in practical, then they will be considered failed in practical.
Therefore, the examinees must score 40% in both theory and practical.
DU Passing Mark Scheme
Per the new DU passing mark scheme, which the Executive Council passed on Feb 3, 2024, on the internal assessment pattern, the University has reduced the weightage of semester-end centralised exams for a theory-based paper to 56%.
In the previous years, the internal assessment weightage was 25%, although now the weightage has increased.
