GATE 2025 Mechanical Paper Analysis: The GATE Mechanical Engineering 2025 exam was considered moderately difficult. The General Aptitude section was easy to moderate, and the Engineering Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering sections were considered to be tough. Core Mechanical Engineering Subjects comprises around 70-75% of the weightage in the question paper.

• The paper codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, and XL include General Aptitude which had covered 15% of the total marks. The remaining 85% were questions within the subject matter of the paper.
• Negative marking: ⅓ marks are deducted for every incorrect answer valued at 1 mark and ⅔ is deducted for incorrect answers valued at 2 marks.

GATE 2020 Mechanical Exam Paper Analysis

In 2020, GATE Mechanical Exam 2020 was conducted in two sessions. The first session was conducted between 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the second session was conducted around 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. There were 65 questions in total. Negative Marking was also there in both MCQ and NAT. 

• The difficulty level of the paper was moderate to tough 
• Students claimed the difficulty level of the paper was pretty challenging for them as the paper was focused on the application-based questions.
• Students also claimed that they had a lengthy paper to attend as it was focused on analytical and logical questioning.

The GATE mechanical exam 2020 duration was three hours in the first shift and also three hours in the second. The second shift was held from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. There were 65 MCQs and the exam paper was for 100 marks in total.

• As per the students who appeared for the exam, it was of moderate difficulty.
• Candidates were happy about the General Aptitude section being easy but Mathematics was difficult.
• Conceptual questions were asked from design topics and 10 marks were from Fluid Mechanics.

• Trusses, Forming, Convention, Metrology, and Radiation questions were also asked on the question paper.

GATE 2019 Mechanical Exam Paper Analysis

GATE Mechanical Exam 2019 was conducted in two slots i.e. Forenoon and Afternoon slots. There were 65 questions and the maximum mark that a student can obtain is 100. The total time given to attempt the paper was 3 hours. The following are the highlights of the 2019 Mechanical Exam.
