Christ University provides placements in a wide range of companies. The students can start interning from the very first semester. For BCA, internships weren't required. For few courses, internships are made compulsory.
Companies start coming for placements from the 4th semester in the second year. Every company has eligibility criteria which the student has to satisfy in order to sit for placements. Around 80% of the students usually get placed in good companies.
Inside the campus, there are two hostels ( girls hostel and boys hostel). A safe place to stay and easy access to safe and decent food. But strict deadlines. Usually, the students from outside the city start by staying on campus and later shift to PG accommodations near the college. There are more than 4 canteens with different kinds of food.
Classrooms are spacious and have a projector, charging facilities. Wi-fi is provided only for the laptops and must be configured once the student has enrolled. There are two libraries providing students with almost every book required. On the whole, the campus is huge and has necessary facilities.
Christ University is one among the well-known colleges in Bangalore which is highly ranked for many subjects. The online applications for admissions usually open in the month of December and the interview process starts taking place soon after. Most of the courses need entrance exams to be taken in which very basic knowledge of the student is tested in the particular subject area.
I applied for BCA. So I did not have to take up an entrance exam but had to go through an interview process. In the interview, they ask you basic information about yourself and might ask you questions based on your subject area (for me computer related). My course cut off was 75% above.
Classes start at 9 am and go on until 4 pm. Few courses start early. The classes are of 55 minutes duration. Certificate courses take place after 4 pm. Cultural activities take place side by side and it is up to the student to manage both. Tests are frequently given for assessment and there are two main exams in each semester - Mid-semester Exam and End semester exam. The quality of teaching, in general, is good. But again, it is up to the student to cope up and do a little study after college hours.
A year back, the fees structure for BCA was around seventy thousand per year (varies for courses). For international students, it's on the higher side. Scholarships provided are few in number.
Each department has a number of clubs which the student can enroll into and the college has the sports team, cultural team etc. The University celebrates most of the festival but is known for its ethnic day and Christmas celebrations.
