Placements and Internships
I interned with Cadbury India Pvt. Ltd. Companies from FMCG, Finance, Consulting, IT and startups generally hire from IIT Chennai. The average salary would be approx INR 10 lakhs per annum with the highest packages going to CS graduates getting placed abroad for INR 80 lacks per annum. Our alumni network is very strong.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
There are 17 hostels, 15 for boys and 2 for girls. Recently there has been construction of extra hostels for girls to accommodate the increasing population of the campus. The older hostels are very spacious with their own quadrangle for inmates to play outdoor sports as well. The newer hostels are towered constructions that allow little opportunity for entertainment.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
To take the B.Tech in Mechanical at IIT Chennai, one must clear the JEE MAIN entrance examination and score good marks.
Academics and Faculty
The Daily routine can get a little hectic depending on the department of study and the courses being taken. Teachers offer interesting projects to enthusiastic students when approached. The overall experience is awesome.
Fees and Scholarships
B.Tech course fee at IIT Madras is INR 1 lakh per annum. There are a number of scholarship options available for students with the special scholarship granted by the government to students from SC/ST and OBC categories.
Clubs and Associations
Students have complete freedom to start and work with student societies and clubs as per campus rules. The main festivals on campus are Shaastra( the tech fest), Saarang( the cultural fest) and Inter IIT sports meet. It is funded by the alumni donations primarily and also gets funds from multiple startups from seniors or alumni who used to work here.

Placements & Internships : I am a second-year student and haven't done any internships. This year IIT Madras placements are the no placements in India and their many key companies in IT as well as course-related companies. Some of the Key companies in IT are Apple, Google, Microsoft. The average salary package is 7.5 lakhs and highest is 1.44 crores. The alumni network in our institute is maintained by International and Alumni relations firmly known as I&AR

Academics & Faculty : College starts at 8.00AM in the morning and ends at 5.45PM in the evening. For every month we will be having quizzes for each course.In the last month of the semester there will be end sem exams. Assignments are given weekly. Many opportunities to do projects. Quality and method of teaching are good. Interactive and exiciting.
Academics & Faculty : Classes generally begin at 8 AM and end at 5.45 PM. However, there are quite a few free slots during the day which can be effectively utilized for studying. Assignments and projects depend on the subject and professors. For some courses regular submission of assignments is necessary and it caries marks. However, for some other subjects, tutorials are uploaded on Moodle which students are expected to solve. For every major subject, there is a tutorial class every week where students can get their doubts clarified by the TAs. The examination format is 2 quizzes and one end semester exams for some subjects, where as it is one mid term plus one end sem exam for some others. The faculty here are very good, knowledgeable and approachable. Most profs are student friendly. The experience here is just fantabulous. The sports facilities are outstanding and the number and variety of different clubs here are simply amazing.
