Entrance Exams & Admissions : There is no cutoff system to get admission in St. Xavier's college. It takes admission on the basis of 12th standard percentage. There is no entrance exam taken by this college. The Christian community can get admission easily because this college gives priority to them.
Academics & Faculty : The Department of commerce at St. Xavier's College enjoys a pre-eminent reputation for the excellence of its teaching in this dynamic discipline. It ranks alongside the most highly-rated departments in commerce among the undergraduate colleges of this country. From a very humble beginning in 1946, today it is the biggest department of the college catering to more than 3000 students. Our academic program is of the highest caliber because we believe in the transformative power of ideas. Our faculty, and diverse student body from various social walks of life, all contribute towards the same purpose: to maintain the department's excellent reputation in education at the cutting edge of economic, institutional and organizational aspects of commerce.
Placements & Internships : The Placement Cell of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata creates a platform where students can showcase their talents which different companies seek to explore and utilise. Starting from 2003, we have successfully placed a large section of graduates who have appeared for placements. This year especially, the performance has been overwhelming. The Placement Cell is headed by Rev. Dr. J. Felix Raj - SJ, and Dr. M. Hanifis the coordinator. The Cell is led by the Placement officer Mr. Niladri Sinha along with the Placement Advisory Board which consists of Professors and final year students from various departments. Initially the companies are invited to take part in the recruitment drive. Those interested respond and thus register with us for the year for recruitment. The students are intimated and a vast number register for the interview. The interview process usually starts with a Power Point Presentation where the company enlightens the students
