The Placement Cell of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata creates a platform where students can showcase their talents which different companies seek to explore and utilise. Starting from 2003, we have successfully placed a large section of graduates who have appeared for placements. This year especially, the performance has been overwhelming.

The Placement Cell is headed by Rev. Dr. J. Felix Raj - SJ, and Dr. M. Hanifis the coordinator. The Cell is led by the Placement officer Mr. Niladri Sinha along with the Placement Advisory Board which consists of Professors and final year students from various departments.

Initially the companies are invited to take part in the recruitment drive. Those interested respond and thus register with us for the year for recruitment. The students are intimated and a vast number register for the interview.

The interview process usually starts with a Power Point Presentation where the company enlightens the students about their company profile. Those interested then go for the interview, which usually comprises of a written test followed by group discussion and personal interview.

The job scenario today is facing the onslaught of ground breaking competition from all fields; and employment into good companies and organizations has become a daunting task. So, for the benefit of its students preparing to face the job market, the St. Xavier's College Placement Cell has risen to the occasion and has successfully aided in providing opportunities and employment to its outgoing students.

With the relentless support of the staff and the students associated with the placement cell and most significantly Rev. Dr. J. Felix Raj, S.J. at the helm, we strive to reach a step closer to our ultimate goal of 100% placements for our students.

Annual Report For The Year 2010-11 Of The Xavier's Management Society

The Xavier's Management Society (XMS) was formed in 2010 under the Department of Business Administration. Founded with the objective of developing, promoting and honing the practical managerial skills of the students of its department, XMS has come a long way since its inception.

With the needs of the students as our priority, we organize events all-year round to help them discover and develop their talent. Our year started in July with the formation of our new board led by Paras Puri as the Secretary and Devanshi Shah as the Joint Secretary. We wasted no time in starting preparations for X-Confero '13, an inter-department and inter-college debate, where two teams from our college competed in an exciting and exhilerating finals. The competition saw various reputed colleges from our city participate to win the prizes for Best Team and Best Speaker. The preliminary rounds featured various teams from our college fighting it out to represent St. Xavier's College against the visiting teams such as JD Birla Institute, Loreto College, Indian Management Institute, Bhawanipore Gujarati Education Society College among others. The winning team was St. Xavier's College.

The annual magazine of the department The X-Ecutive , Vol X, was again an endeavour of the Society. The magazine was based on the theme Y is a function of X, stressing on the inter-dependence between the various factors influencing the corporate world. Our magazine featured not only articles from students, faculty members and various seasoned professionals from various walks of life, but also interviews of leading businessmen and professionals to help inspire us to perform and live life better. The magazine was launched at X-Talk a panel discussion organised by the Society wherein eminent personalities from various fields shared their views on the topic: The way news is made has changed, as has indeed the news itself.

The Xavier's Management Convention better known as XMC is the most enterprising of all events of the society. XMC '14 saw several prestigious colleges from all over the country compete with each other to prove their mettle in a battle to showcase their knowledge and capability of tackling financial, marketing, human resource and PR-related problems which are faced by companies.

We owe our success to the constant support and guidance of Father Vice-Principal, Rev. Dr. Fr. Dominic Savio, SJ, The Dean of the department Professor Amitava Roy and our teacher-in charge , Prof Baishali Agarwal.
