Placements and Internships

3.5

  • MSRIT does not provide internships directly but has made it mandatory for every student to undergo industrial training in the 3rd year.
  • In this regard, H.O.D (especially Mech) helps a lot in either giving you contact numbers of various companies or doing the documentation works that are required for your internship. Internships eventually depend only on the student and their skills.
  • The college boasts of 200+ key companies coming for campus recruitment and we have witnessed remarkable placement record of all IT related branches in every year. In 2014 LinkedIn offered a whopping 16.5 lacs package to an ISE student which was one of the highest in the city.
  • Talking about core companies we have fewer options but the scenario is still better compared to other colleges. Bosch, Mahindra, Toyota Kirloskar, L&T, Quest Global, Ford and other companies visit campus in the later part of placement session and recruit a handful of brilliant students offering entry level salary.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4

  • There are 3 hostels owned by the college and many others in the vicinity of campus. All of them offer a different range of services charging a different fee. The Fresher Block and Aryabhatta Hostel are inside the campus and offer satisfactory services. These include rooms with double sharing and a handful of single rooms too. Both of them have a common Mess that offers ONLY Veg food which has been termed Okay in terms of quality and taste by the students. These two hostels have common toilet and bathrooms.
  • There are many of cafes and restaurants nearby offering a variety of food items. The NRI Hostel is right outside the campus and offers single, double-sharing, and triple sharing rooms with attached toilet and bathroom. Again, this hostel also shares that common Mess with the aforementioned hostels offering Veg food. In case you don't get any of these hostels then you can also go to M S Ramaiah Boys Home which offers the best facilities but charges the highest fee among all the different college-owned hostels. This hostel, however, has its own separate Mess and offers both Non-Veg and Veg food. It has only single and double sharing rooms with attached bathroom and toilet.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • I wrote COMEDK and secured a rank of 1681. The cut-off is usually 1800 for Mechanical in the first round of counseling. One of the reasons for choosing MSRIT out of so many other options was that this college has a good brand image. I am studying Mechanical Engineering by choice and had received good reviews for this branch in particular from a few known professors of other colleges. This college has a perfect cosmopolitan culture and provides everyone with equal opportunity to grow.
  • One thing that sets this college apart from any other in Bangalore is that MSRIT is the only college to have a separate official department dedicated to extracurricular activities. Hence it also helps in overall development of students and has a plethora of clubs functioning under the Department of Extra-Curricular Activities that cater to Literary, Art, Photography,

Academics and Faculty

4

  • The college has framed its curriculum by taking inspirations from a few of the US universities and IITs. The college strives to deliver global quality technical education by nurturing a conductive learning environment for a better tomorrow through continuous improvement and customization. This is evident from numerous research centers established by the industry within the college campus such as IBM, Apple, Schneider Electric, HP, to name a few. Various individual research projects are carried out throughout the year by institute professors in their respective fields and quite often they involve one or more deserving students in their works as they believe that merely classroom education cannot bring out the best of the engineers among students. Hence the course structure is updated every year with an emphasis on including topics that are important to learn from an industrial point of view. In short, this college perfectly balances course structure with an emphasis on research field.
  • Numerous class tests, Quiz, Assignments and internal exams are held throughout the year. Some of the labs are really interesting to attend. The lab attendants are well equipped with the technical know-how of various machines and often help students to conduct experiments with utmost care and deep understanding. The course structure focuses on fewer theories and more on practical results in Laboratory curriculum which, I think, is essential for a student.

Fees and Scholarships

3

  • The Fee Structure has been divided into 3 categories : CET Quota (Karnataka students who take admissions through CET), COMEDK (Students from all over India who take admissions through COMEDK) and NRI Quota (For Foreign nationals). You may find huge differences between the fee that is charged for each category. For eg. CET students pay around Rs. 50,000 per year as Tuition Fee while COMEDK students pay Rs. 1,50,550 per year for the same Tuition Fee. Affordability depends on your family's economic conditions.
  • There are various banks in the country that provide you the educational loan. There are many scholarships offered by the college for meritorious or economically backward students. Usually, the applications for these open in the month of August/September and students can visit Scholarship Department located on the Ground Floor, Apex Block for more details.

Clubs and Associations

4.5

  • The college witnesses numerous events throughout the year like Udbhav, ShoutOut, Karnataka Rajyotsava and TEDxMSRIT to name a few. Each event registers huge participation and the campus feels lively. The entire college life of an MSRITian revolves around these events in which they can participate or volunteer. The college cultural fest Udbhav is the biggest event in the college which happens in the month of April every year and a minimum of 3000 students take an active interest in the fest and attend it.
  • Last year's Udbhav was covered by Indigo FM and sponsored by Bengaluru FC which adds a huge amount of value to the fest. Famous bands such as Lagori performed in the fest and the participation from other colleges in Udbhav increases every year. ShoutOut is the theater festival of MSRIT in which students take part in One Acts, Skits, Short Movies, and Short Ads to name a few. Prominent faces from the Theatre industry are called in as judges of this event which lasts for 2-3 days.
