Placements and Internships

4.5

  • I did my internship with Deloitte US from Gurgaon office. The primary role was that of Advisory and Risk Consulting where I learnt how to manage enterprise risk. Stipend at my time was around INR 95000 for 2 months which keeps on increasing with each passing batch.
  • Well, every year the pool of companies keeps on increasing as more and more corporate show faith in the quality of students. Best thing, there is no dearth of opportunity for a deserving candidate. IIM Udaipur is one of the few institutes that follows IPRS standard of reporting placement. It means that the data published on the website is verified by independent auditors and the figures are not inflates as is the case with other institutes now-a-days. Please check for IPRS standards as only few IIMs and non-IIMs follow it like IIMA who started the initiative. Please check IIMU website for detailed placement info.
  • 100% of the batch gets placed. Rest assured of that. The institute takes due care of students and their careers.
  • Students get job opportunities in India as well as abroad in multiple locations.
  • With the 4th batch passed out of institute, we look at a decent number of alumni helping us in all stages of our career development. Some of the alums have earned great respect in global organizations. They help us in placement preparations, insights about companies and for job switches as an when required.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

5

  • The new 250 acres campus of IIM Udaipur is opening this year. The upcoming batch is going to enjoy the state of the art infrastructure with independent rooms and artificial lakes all at one place. I can promise that you would not want to leave the place when the time comes asI have thoroughly observed the design and construction.
  • My batch resided in the temporary campus but this is the place we all friends loved the most. There were 3 hostels including 1 for the ladies which were located in 200m to 1km range. The hostel is like a second home with all the facilities like cricket ground, football, volleyball court, badminton, TT, carrom. There are common rooms in each dorm for group study and the hostel rooms were twin sharing. You don't need a PG as it is a residential program and hostels are compulsory.
  • There are 2 food mess which operate on coupon system so that you can make a choice of when to have/not have food. Cost per meal would be around INR 50 .
  • Classrooms are the identity of IIMU campus. They are colorful, sound proof, air conditioned, well constructed with all the technical facilities required for delivering high quality education. The insti. is rigged with 1 GBPS optical fibre network which gives you ultimate download speeds. There is a bloomberg lab for Fin wizards, Library with all the publications you need to refer, meditation room for relaxation, conference rooms, etc.

Academics and Faculty

4.5

  • The whole program can be split into 2 halves. In the first half, as it is known as first year on your MBA a regular day starts at 9 A.M and would look like atleast 3 lectures of 1hr 15 min back to back separated by 15 minutes break time. You get to have your lunch at around 1.30 P.M. If you are not running the best of lucks, you may get a surprise mail of a quiz to be conducted in an hours time. In second year, an additional 30 minutes of your sleep are breached as the classes begin from 8.30 A.M depending on the choice of subjects. The college is very particular about the timings.
  • Projects, exams, assignments- you would get obsessed with these things once you get into IIMU as a matter of fact in any IIM
  • Quality of teaching - a good number of student/faculty ratio and you are get to learn from seasoned academicians with expertise in research and case based methodology. The best part is that you get to learn from the best prof. in the country visiting mostly from IIM A, IIM B, XLRI, etc. You would find their worth as the time flies in their lectures. There are numerous subjects to choose as per your interest be it analytics, marketing, ops, fin, strategy, hr,etc
  • overall if you want to experience real academic experience with excellent learning then IIMU is one of the better insti. under the able leadership of Director Prof. Janat Shah.

Fees and Scholarships

5

  • The fee for my batch 2016 was around INR 10 lakhs for 2 years. Per year it is around INR 5 to 5.5 lakhs.
  • Every year 3 to 4 students get scholarships in lac(s) depending on your academic performance in the first year. Apart from this, IIMU provides financial aid to students having less than 4.5 lakhs family annual income. This takes away a lot of pressure from students facing financial constraints and are able to focus only on learning.
  • Almost more than half of the batch takes scholar loan, it is a good practice as it would save your income tax in long run. Als, it makes you more responsible to get hgher return on your investment as a student. Advice: Please take loans from banks nearby IIMU in Udaipur as they process it fast and also understands your requirements. Lot of options - SBI/Canara/YES/ICICI/Union

Clubs and Associations

5

  • It is bit on a higher side but that said it ensures that your interest area would lie among any of the 25+ clubs/committees at IIMU. There are essentially official committees which take responsible roles in insti., then there are functional clubs for honing your domain skills at fin, mark, ops,hr,consulting, etc. Then there are non-functional clubs like social responsibility, literary, sports and last but not the least interest driven clubs such as dance, music, photography.
  • The two main b-school fest for IIMU are: Audacity-The cultural festival and Solaris-The management festival. The intra-college sports fests are spread across the year with independent sports event.
  • Apart from these, the IIMU community celebrates each and every festival together as a family and the celebrations are a must watch :)

Academics & Faculty : The Faculty at Indian Institute of Management, [IIM] Udaipur is one of the best in the country no doubts on that. The class lectures are well synchronized with activities. Also the method of teaching is more of practical and industry based than the theoretical stuff.
