The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is the conducting authority of the PCS Examination which is responsible for the recruitment of Group A and Group B officers in the administrative services of the state government. What is UPPSC?

UPPSC stands for Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission. UPPSC Allahabad is the state agency that conducts the Civil Service Exams for Entry-level Appointments to various Civil Services of Uttar Pradesh. It has its headquarters located at 10, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. The UPPSC 2020 Exam is conducted for enrollment of suitable candidates to the posts of Assistant Professors, Medical Lecturers, Civil services of Uttar Pradesh.

UPPSC UPPCS 2020 Notification

The official notification will contain important information like the number of vacancies available, the eligibility criteria, the physical qualification required, syllabus, exam pattern, and all the important dates related to the exam. Hence, the candidates have to go through the notification and make sure that they satisfy all the criteria before applying for the exam.

  • The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission will release the notification on October 1, 2020.
  • The last date of the deposition of the Admission fee in the bank will be October 29, 2020. This fee will take a few days to get processed. After this date, the candidates will not be able to complete the form.
  • The last date to submit the online applications was June 4, 2020. The candidates who choose the online method to pay the application fee will get the transaction receipt immediately and they can download the application at the same time.

UPPSC PCS 2020 Eligibility

The UPPSC which conducts UPPCS 2020 Exam is also the deciding authority, that decides and releases the eligibility criteria. The candidates are advised to go through the eligibility criteria with qualifications for the post that you wanted to appear for, before starting to apply.

  • Educational Qualification: The candidates should have completed Bachelor's Degree in relevant trade and for teacher/ lecturer posts an additional B.Ed degree is required. Master's degree in relevant trade is an added bonus.
  • Age Limit: The age of aspiring candidates should not be less than 21 years and not more than 40 years as on July 1, 2020. (varies for each post).

UPPSC 2020 Preliminary Exam

  • The UPPSC 2020 preliminary exam is an objective type examination. It is mandatory to appear for both the papers. Marks obtained in Paper-1 will be considered in the merit list whereas Paper-2 will be qualifying in nature. Candidates will have to secure a minimum of 33% in paper-2 in order to be eligible to attend the next round of the examination process.

UPPSC 2020 Mains Exam

  • The UPPSC 2020 Mains exam is a descriptive type exam and it has 2 optional papers and 6 compulsory papers. The papers include General Hindi, Essay, General Studies-I, General Studies-II, General Studies-III, General Studies-IV, Optional subject-I, and Optional subject-II. All the papers will have a duration of 3 hours(180 mins). General Hindi and Essay papers will have maximum marks of 150 and all other papers will be for 200 marks.

  • Shortlisted candidates who have cleared the Preliminary Exam and Main Exam will be called for the Face to Face Interview process. It will be a viva-voice for 100 marks. It is aimed at accessing the general awareness, intelligence, and personality of the candidate.

UPPSC 2020 Document Upload

Candidates are asked to upload certain documents while filling the UPPSC 2020 Application Form. These documents include passport size photograph and signature. The UPPSC 2020 Application Process is composed of multiple steps. Due to COVID-19, the UPPSC 2020 Prelim exam will be conducted on October 11, 2020, which is why the commission has provided a window to change the exam centres from September 1, 2020, to September 10, 2020.

Following are the optional subjects: History, Geography, Economics, Sociology, Public Administration, Philosophy, Psychology, Political Science, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Anthropology, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce, Electrical Engineering, Geology, Law, Mathematics, Management, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Physics, Zoology and Literature (Any single language mentioned in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution).

  • The study material mostly is available in Hindi but candidates preferring English can refer to Pratiyogita Darpan and previous year solved papers.
  • For some of the UPPSC exams, Hindi has higher weightage. There is a separate paper for Hindi in exams like RO, ARO, etc. The main exam for RO, ARO can be written only in Hindi.
  • Candidates who have rigorously prepared for UPSC exams will find UPPSC exams fairly easy. For most of the UPPSC exams, the exam pattern remains unchanged and questions are repeated from previous year papers.

According to Article 16, the domicile requirement of the same state is not mandatory for public sector recruitment exams. So yes, the candidate can write the exam irrespective of which state he/she belongs to.

The syllabus remains the same, however, note the changes made in the exam pattern as written below:

  • Negative marking has been introduced for the preliminary exam (one-third of total marks allotted to a question) both for Paper I & Paper-II.
  • Introduction of 4 general studies paper. All these papers are descriptive in nature.
  • Candidates now need to select one optional subject unlike 2 optional subjects so far.
  • The marks for the interview have been reduced to 100.
  • Introduction of minimum qualifying percentage for all papers in both prelims and main exams. Though this will be different for different category candidates.
