Introduction to UPPSC

About: UPPSC stands for Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission. UPPSC Allahabad is the state agency which conducts the Civil Service Exams for Entry-level Appointments to various Civil Services of Uttar Pradesh.

Headquarters: UPPSC Headquarter is located at 10, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Scope: Uttar Pradesh State Public Service Commission conducts UPPSC Exam for enrollment to the posts of Assistant Professors, Medical Lecturers, Civil services of Uttar Pradesh.

Mode of Exam: The examination will be conducted through the online medium. The candidates have to use the keyboard and mouse to attempt the exam.

UPPSC 2020 Syllabus: The candidates can check the syllabus and prepare according to it. The Commission will release the notification when the syllabus will be revised.

The UPPSC Exam Date will be also be released by the UPPSC very soon via their website notification.

UPSSC Registration will be available on the official website and it is mandatory to fill in the application to obtain the admit cards.

UPPSC 2020 Notification

  • The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission released the notification on 1st October 2020.

  • The last date of deposition of Admission fee in the bank is 29th October 2020. This fee will take a few days to get processed. After this date, the candidates will not be able to complete the form.

  • The last date to submit the online applications is 1st November 2020. The candidates who choose the online method to pay the application fee will get the transaction receipt immediately and they can download the application at the same time.

UPPSC 2020 Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: The candidates should have completed Bachelor's Degree in relevant trade and for teacher/ lecturer posts an additional B.Ed degree is required. Master's degree in relevant trade is an added bonus.

  • Age Limit: The candidates must be between 21-40 years of age (varies for each post).

  • Age Relaxation: For SC/ ST - 5 Years, For OBC - 3 years, For PH - 15 years

Q. What is the prescribed syllabus for UPPSC exams?

Ans. The examination is conducted in three phases:

  • Preliminary Exam: The prelims exam is an MCQ test and all questions are objective in nature.
  • Main Exam: The main exam is a written ability test.
  • Viva-voice: This is conducted to assess the personality of the qualified candidate.

Q. What are a few important things to know about UPPSC exams?

Ans.

  • The study material mostly is available in Hindi but candidates preferring English can refer to Pratiyogita Darpan and previous year solved papers.
  • For some of the UPPSC exams, Hindi has higher weightage. There is a separate paper for Hindi in exams like RO, ARO, etc. The main exam for RO, ARO can be written only in Hindi.
  • Candidates who have rigorously prepared for UPSC exams will find UPPSC exams fairly easy. For most of the UPPSC exams, the exam pattern remains unchanged and questions are repeated from previous year papers.

Q. Can a candidate from other state write UPPSC exams?

Ans. According to Article 16, the domicile requirement of the same state is not mandatory for public sector recruitment exams. So yes, the candidate can write the exam irrespective of which state he/she belongs to.

Q. How to prepare for UPPSC exam?

Ans. The UPPSC exams are the most esteemed exams conducted by the service commission of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates need to prepare with utmost dedication to crack the exam. Q. Has UPPSC changed the syllabus and exam pattern recently?

Ans. The syllabus remains the same, however, note the changes made in the exam pattern as written below:

  • Negative marking has been introduced for the preliminary exam (one-third of total marks allotted to a question) both for Paper I & Paper II.
  • Introduction of 4 general studies paper. All these papers are descriptive in nature.
  • Candidates now need to select one optional subject unlike 2 optional subjects so far.
  • The marks for the interview has been reduced to 100.
  • Introduction of minimum qualifying percentage for all papers in both prelims and main exams. Though this will be different for different category candidates.

Q. Which is the most scoring optional subject in UPPSC exam?

Ans. Defence studies and social work have been the most popular choices of candidates over the past years. After these, its geography and history. However, this depends on the candidate’s capabilities too.
