First of its kind the 5 Year Integrated Program in Management was introduced by IIM Indore in 2011. A uniquely creative program aimed at young students with managerial and leadership aspirations. The management aspirants can take up this course right after their Class 12/HSC or equivalent certificate examination. The interested candidates need to take up the Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) which is a national level entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore.


What is IPMAT?

Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test [IPMAT] is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management, Indore, for enrolment into an integrated degree course. The IPMAT is a national level entrance exam conducted every year in the last week of April/First week of May and stands to enrol 150 domestic applicants. Candidates who qualify the IPMAT Exam will be called for the personal interview. The final selection of the candidates for the admission into 5 year-long integrated BA+MBA program will be carried out by evaluating the performance of the candidates in the IPMAT written test and the IPMAT Personal Interview.

 The IPMAT candidates are screened through a rigorous selection procedure a brief of which is mentioned below.

  1. An application form evaluates the candidates' proficiency in academics and co-curricular activities.
  2. The candidate is evaluated on the basis of his/her/x logical reasoning, aptitude, and proficiency in English and Mathematics.
  3. The Candidates shortlisted through the two tests above appear for a Written Ability Test and a Personal Interview to a panel comprising of professors from the college and other institutions. The candidate's level of confidence, communication skills and general awareness are judged by the interviewers.

The Aptitude Test for enrolment into the 5-year course is expected to be held on May 9, 2021. The application form for the same will be opened on February 15, 2021. The last date to fill in the applications for the IPMAT 2021 is March 30, 2021. The dates given below are tentative and the official dates will be updated once the conducting authority releases it.

IPMAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates can apply for this course right after their XII/HSC or equivalent examination. The aspirants who satisfy the criteria as mentioned below would be eligible to apply for the Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) of IIM Indore.

  • Age: Candidate must be born on or after August 01, 2000 (5 years of relaxation to the candidates from SC/ST/PwD category will be given i.e. born on or after August 01, 1995).
  • Academic Pre-requisite: The Candidate needs to have completed his/ her Class 12/ HSC or equivalent in 2018, 2019, or should be appearing in 2021.
  • Minimum score requirement: The aspiring candidate must have 60% or more in class  10/SSC and class 12/HSC or equivalent examinations (5% relaxation for the candidates from SC/ST/PwD category).

Note 1: Candidates likely to complete class 12/HSC or equivalent by the start of July 2021 are also eligible to apply, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria as mentioned above. On successfully making it through the selection procedure, the candidates will be offered admission to the program provisionally. During the registration, the selected candidates must produce standard X/SSC and standard XII/HSC or equivalent examinations mark sheet (securing minimum marks, as indicated above) along with school-leaving certificate/migration certificate, failing which the candidate’s provisional admission offer will stand cancelled.

Note 2: The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in class 10 and 12 would be calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects in the mark sheet/ grade sheet, irrespective of the Board’s regulation. The selected candidates who've got grades or grade points on their certificates should get the conversion of grades to the percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the Board/ Competent Authority explaining the method of conversion from where they have obtained the certificate.

Note 3: Applicants pursuing their X and/or XII standard from international schools affiliated to foreign boards like IGCSE (International General Certificate for Secondary Education) and IB (International Baccalaureate) can also apply.

Note 4: IIM Indore reserves the right to decide the eligibility conditions in terms of equivalence, percentage marks, and the recognition of the qualifying examination, intake etc.

IPMAT 2021 Application Form

If you're an aspirant who fits the eligibility criteria as mentioned above then submit the IPMAT 2021 application online and pay the online non-refundable/non-transferable application fee of INR 4,130 (Rupees Four Thousand One Hundred Thirty only, inclusive of GST @18%) / INR 2,065 (Rupees Two Thousand Sixty Five only, inclusive of GST @18% for SC/ST/PwD category candidates).

Candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy-OBC, SC, ST, and PwD categories need to produce a valid Caste certificate(s) in support of their reservation category and candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) need to produce a valid document ascertaining the eligibility of the candidate to apply under EWS category. Once submitted, no changes can be made in the application form and one is forced to create a fresh new application.

IPMAT 2021 Exam Pattern

The pattern of IPMAT 2021 exam will be as follows.

  1. The Aptitude Test will be divided into three separate sections, namely, Quantitative Ability (Multiple Choice Question-MCQ), Quantitative Ability (Short Answer Question-SA) and Verbal Ability (Multiple Choice Question-MCQ).
  2. The questions will carry a weight of 4 marks each.
  3. 1 mark for each wrong answer will be deducted, except in the Quantitative Ability (SA) Section. These questions will not carry any negatives owing to their subjective nature.
  4. The AT will be structured as under

  5. The applicant will be required to answer in a pre-specified order and it shall remain the same for all other candidates. The final order of the sections is not included in the table above.

IPMAT 2021 Admit Card

The IPMAT 2021 Admit Card will be released at least a week before the exam date. It is expected to be released on April 26, 2021. The Admit Card can be downloaded by the applicants on the official website of IIM Indore. 

Steps to download the IPMAT 2021 Admit Card

Follow the steps mentioned below to download IPMAT 2021 Admit Card

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of IIM Indore
  • Step 2: Go to the IPM Section/Tab then click on the ‘IPMAT Admit Card’ tab
  • Step 3: A login window will appear, enter your IPMAT credentials such as User ID, Application Number, and Date of Birth.
  • Step 4: Fill the captcha code and click on login.
  • Step 5: IPMAT 2021 Admit Card will appear on the screen
  • Step 6: Download and take a printout of your IPMAT Admit Card

IPMAT Admit Card 2021 Details

IPMAT 2021 Admit Card will be the most important document for the aspirants of 5 year integrated course in IIM Indore. The IPMAT Admit Card will have the following details.

  • Candidate' Name
  • Photograph and Signature of the Candidate
  • IPMAT Roll Number of  the candidate
  • Venue of the IPMAT Exam Centre, Date and Time of Exam
  • Instruction related to the IPMAT Exam Centre and Code of Conduct
  • An empty box/space for IPMAT Centre Invigilator's Signature

In case of any discrepancy or mistake in the details mentioned in the IPMAT Admit Card, candidates should immediately report the issue to the authority at IIM Indore. The rectification of wrong details in the IPMAT Admit Card is necessary as it will be used in the verification rounds and will be required until the completion of the selection procedure. 

IPMAT 2021 Results

IPMAT Results will be declared on the website of IIM Indore. The results are usually declared in the form of an IPMAT merit list for which a link will be available on the notification window of IPMAT. To check individual IPMAT Marks, the candidate has to login with his/her/x credentials and click on the results tab, then download it as PDF. Later take a printout for future reference. 

Steps to check IPMAT 2021 Result

Step 1: Got to the official website of IIM Indore

Step 2: Find the IPMAT results/results tab on the homepage and click on it

Step 3: Use your credentials to login (IPMAT Application Number, registered email, or Date of Birth in DD/MM/YYYY format)

Step 4: Enter the OTP code/captcha code

Step 5: Click on the Get Status tab on the screen

Step 6: IPMAT result will appear, review it

Step 7: Download your IPMAT result and take a print of it.

The IPMAT score will reveal if the candidate is eligible to appear in WAT and PI rounds. 

IPMAT 2021 Cut off

IPMAT Cut off will be declared post-exams. The students who clear the cutoff will only get a call for IPMAT counselling. A cutoff is decided on the following basis:

  • The difficulty level of questions with length.
  • Number of Candidates appearing for IPMAT. 
  • The number of seats available.

IPMAT 2021 Selection Process

The selection of the candidates will take place on the basis of overall performance in the Aptitude Test (AT), Written Ability Test (WAT) & Personal Interview (PI). A candidate failing to appear either in AT or WAT & PI or both shall be barred from the selection. The selection process is as follows:

Stage 1: Whichever applicant finds themselves satisfying the minimum eligibility criteria will have to submit their application online as described above.

Stage 2: As per the applications received, candidates who satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria will be eligible for the Aptitude Test (AT) to be conducted across 34 cities in the country. IIM Indore reserves the right to change or omit a centre from the list. The date of conducting AT is to be announced.

Stage 3: The pool of candidates eligible for Stage-4 {i.e. shortlisting for Written Ability Test (WAT) & Personal Interview (PI)} is created in this stage. Only the candidates with a positive raw score and a minimum mark in each of the three sections of the Aptitude Test will be considered. The cut off marks for each section of the test will be decided by the admissions committee. The cut-offs will be decided as per the categories of applicants. No individual letter of regrets will be sent out to the candidates who fail to clear the test.

Stage 4: A significant number of candidates shall be shortlisted for this stage (i.e.from the eligible pool (refer Stage-3) for each category (General, EWS, NC-OBC, SC, ST, and PwD) using the merit list generated based on Aptitude Test Score (ATS) as mentioned in Table below.

Note: Shortlisted candidates shall appear for WAT & PI at any one of the seven centres i.e. Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, and Mumbai. IIM Indore also expects a consistent and minimum performance in the different parameters of Personal Interview (PI), which will be decided by the Admissions Committee. Candidates not meeting the minimum performance in any of PI parameters will not be considered for the next stage of the selection process i.e. Stage-5.

Stage 5: Candidates satisfying the requirements mentioned in earlier stages get considered for the final selection. Category wise merit list will be generated based on Composite Score (CS) as mentioned below and provisional admission offers will be made accordingly adhering to the Government of India reservation norms.

Important Note:

  • The Sanctioned intake for IPM 2021 batch (Domestic Applicant) is 150.
  • "The Indian Institutes of Management Act 2017 came into force from January 31, 2018, and accordingly students who will be enrolled in the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore's Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) for 2021-25 Batch will be eligible for award of Bachelor of Arts (Foundations of Management) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees under Dual Degree Programme upon successful completion of IPM.
  • IPM students who successfully completed the IPM program in 2019 were conferred the above Degrees at the 20th Convocation of the Institute held on March 26, 2019.
  • Candidates attempting to apply with minor changes of information and/or facts to more than one and/or multiple applications will be summarily rejected and such candidates will be debarred from the further selection process.

Reservations in IPMAT 2021

As per Government of India requirement, 27% of the seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “Non-Creamy” layer (NC-OBC), 15% for Scheduled Caste (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, up to 10% for Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) and 5% for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD).

As defined in The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act 2016), “person with benchmark disability” means a person with not less than forty per cent (40%) of a specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a person with a disability where specified disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority. “specified disability” means the disabilities as specified in the Schedule of the RPwD Act 2016.

Categories of disability as per the regulatory norms

The categories of disability are:
a) blindness and low vision
b) deaf and hard of hearing
c) locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy
d) autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness
e) multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d)
f) other 'specified disabilities' mentioned in 'The Schedule' of the RPwD Act 2016.

For the purpose of being considered for reservations, the candidates are required to submit the valid documents signed by the competent authority to ascertain the eligibility status to apply under the reserved category (NC-OBC/ SC/ ST/ EWSs/ PwD). No subsequent changes will be effective for IPMAT 2021 and any subsequent selection process of IIM Indore.

The candidates belonging to categories for which seats are reserved need to note and read carefully the eligibility requirements before applying. It should be noted that while it is the endeavour of IIM Indore that the candidates belonging to NC-OBC/SC/ST/EWS/PwD categories join the program in proportions mandated by the law, they have to meet the eligibility criteria and a certain minimum level of performance to be considered for the admission process.

IPMAT 2021 Reference Books

For IPMAT reference material candidates should go to the quantitative ability and qualitative ability reasoning material. Along with this, a candidate requires command over Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension. The syllabus and pattern of IPMAT are much like CAT. Frequently Asked Questions

There is negative marking in the IPMAT Exam. Candidates will receive 4 marks for every correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. Although, there is no negative marking for the short answer type questions in the IPMAT Exam.

Candidates need to have scored at least 60% aggregate or equivalent CGPA in class X and XII for the general category. For the candidates who belong to the reserved category, this criterion is 55% aggregate or equivalent CGPA.

The IPMAT Exam is conducted in online mode i.e. it is a computer-based test where candidates have to select the correct answer out of given options.

No. Calculator is not allowed in the IPMAT Exam hall. Students should not carry any electronic gadgets or devices like phones, calculators, smartwatch, etc in the IPMAT Exam hall.

The IPMAT Exam score is accepted in IIM Indore as the exam is conducted by the IIM Indore for admission into their 5 year-long integrated program i.e. dual degree program.
