Vivekananda college Chembur provides a culture of value-based education. Vivekanand Education Society was founded in 1959 by Shri Hashu Advani, along with 10 members who shared the dream of providing qualitative education to the youth of the country. Vivekanand Education Society had launched with 256 students and six classrooms in the humble barracks of Chembur camp. Now it has been developed into 3,75,000 sq. ft. land, housing 12 buildings and 28 institutions, ranging from a creche to PhD centres.

To gain this scholarship, students should have a score of at least 7.00 grade and family income of less than one lakh per annum. Scholarships are given to 15-20 students across all departments every year. The Scholarship amount will be 15,000 to each student.
The scholarship is given to one student from each department. Every year an amount of 30,000 is given. The criteria is a grade point of at least 7.00 and a family income of less than one lakh per annum.
The Nischal Israni Foundation is offering the scholarship of Rupees of ten thousand. This is given to ten meritorious and needy students. The criteria of this scholarship will be less than 1.5 lakhs per annum of family income and a grade point of at least 7.00. The students who have a family income of less than 3L per annum can also apply to these scholarships. It is offered to only second-year students.

Vivekanand education society hostel facility is available for both boys and girls. The Hostel is located in the Hashu Advani Memorial Complex, Chembur. The Hostel is provided on a first-come-first-serve basis. The VES hostel was donated by Shri Harkishu Bhojraj Chanrai, Smt. Bhagwani Bhojraj Chanrai, Smt. Madhu Bhojraj Chanrai. Class timings are from 10:30-5 for first year and final year students For second and third year students the timings are from 8:30-2:45 The college has many highly qualified professors, and has an overall good teaching experience. There are regular assignments, and each semester consists of two internal assessment tests. Students are encouraged to take up projects outside the syllabus.
There are many student bodies/ societies in the college, which includes music, drama, social responsibility, photography, visual arts and other cultural societies.
