SMIMER or Surat Municipality Institute of Medical Education and Research was established in the year 2000. It was constructed by the Surat Municipal Corporation and was made to meet the medical and educational needs of people in the state and western part of India. SMIMER offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of medicine. Admission to undergraduate courses is done on the basis of NEET UG score, and PG admission is based on NEET PG scores.

The current intake capacity for the MBBS course is 100. SMIMER has various facilities such as a central library, classrooms, computer labs and hostels.

SMIMER Admission

SMIMER offers various Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) courses with certain specializations to students in the practice of medicine and therapeutics. The admissions are based on merit and entrance examinations like NEET UG and NEET PG. 

SMIMER College Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for some courses are as follows

MBBS Eligibility Criteria

• The candidates must have passed 10+2 with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
• The candidates must have obtained the minimum required to rank in NEET UG / MHCET.

MD/MS  Eligibility Criteria 

• The candidates must have passed MBBS with 50% marks in the relevant stream
• The candidates must have obtained a valid score in NEET PG.

SMIMER Academic Advantages

SMIMER has a Medical Education Unit which is the heart of all activities at the college. The unit organizes seminars that are open to teachers and students both, this enhances the pedagogy. The faculty has been trained at National training institutes. The institute also has a multi-disciplinary research lab called the department of health, which was created under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The aim of this lab is to promote, coordinate and develop basic, applied and clinical research. This department poses a great opportunity to be part of groundbreaking work.

SMIMER cutoff for 2022 is yet to be released. The cutoff is different for each category. In 2021, the cutoff for the unreserved category was 720-138, for SC/ST/OBC was 137-108.
