About Jai Hind College, Mumbai


Jai Hind College was established in 1948 and it is one of the oldest institutions of higher education. It was started by dedicated teachers of D.J Sind College Karachi. The Teachers of D.J Sind had thought and for this, they came to Bombay and tried a lot to achieve their goal of setting up an educational institution to which they could contribute their expertise, their knowledge, and their skills to the students of the society and thus Jai Hind College was born.

Jai Hind College is one of the premier institutions of Mumbai. The College endeavor was to move beyond the conventional academic programs so as to keep pace with the changing academic scenario. With this view, several new programs have been introduced, that have been extremely well received by students and prospective employers alike. The institution has encouraged and inspired the students to break the preconceived boundaries of performance. It encourages them to dream and to use the latest innovative ideas and technology through researches to realize and to achieve those dreams. 

The Vision of the institution is to be every student's choice and employers alike. Jai Hind College is known for producing quality human resources and leaders by providing a well-rounded education of international standards. Although in 1948, the college has small buildings but with the help of trusts, the Maharashtra govt., the college has developed good infrastructure. 

It has collaborations with many Canadian Universities under the aegis of Ontario-Maharashtra-Goa program. Institute is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC] with 'A' grade and is affiliated to the University of Mumbai.   • Well, the lecturers at Jai Hind are pretty good, atleast the students are satisfied with their teaching. Professors of Science and Commerce department have detailed knowledge about their subject and are co-operative, at times. Most of the communication takes place in English but some teachers become extra friendly during lecture hours and start off with Hindi.

  • Talaash, Entourage and Detour are the annual festivals of BMS, BBI and BMM departments respectively.

The classes usually start at 7:30 am and end at 1:30 pm. The internal assessment includes class presentations, assignments and 75% attendance. The faculty is one of the best when it comes to teaching. The teachers are professionals who guide us in excelling in the subjects. They are friendly, understanding, supportive and more importantly very intellectual. The best experience ever.

There are societies and associations for each subject. Major fests are Arthanomics, Talaash, Entourage, Shout, Sports O Mania etc.

The class timings are different for all days of the week. There are a lot of interesting projects given to us. We've made 3 short movies in the past 1 year. The quality and method of teaching is great.

  • Apart from that, there are other departments which organize festivals like Entourage, Talash, etc.
