About Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, [RIT] Kottayam
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, named after the late Prime Minister Sri Rajiv Gandhi, run by the Government of Kerala, started functioning in 1991. It has established a vast infrastructure and put together a team of dedicated teachers. The institution has become one of the leading technical Institutes in Kerala.
The government has started this institution in the view of making it a center for post graduation and research studies. The college is affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University. RIT, the sanctum of technology aims at providing high quality education for talented students from all sections of the society. Owned and managed by the Government of Kerala, it has a highly qualified and dedicated faculty. More than providing technical education RIT aims at the overall development of each and every RITian. The college provides a positive environment for the students to develop their potentials and to excel in all walks of life. The college regenerates itself in greater and higher dimensions of technology, articulating scientific thirst and common mobs' necessities.
The campus extends over 87 acres of government land. The institute provides a perfect setting for the serious students and serves as a constant reminder to those seeking to excel in their profession. The buildings have been designed to suite the steep contoured site of the plantation with minimum disturbance to the existing environment. The campus consists of well designed administrative block, civil block, mechanical block, electrical block, electronics block, library, workshops, hostels (for men and women). The campus provides all the facilities to the students to excel in their respective fields of interests.
AICTE has recognized RIT as a QIP centre in Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering . RIT has selected for implementing TEQIP (technical education quality improvement programe ) Phase II. Teaching Assistantship (PG Scholarship) for Non-GATE students is provided under TEQIP fund.
RIT has CERD (centre for Engineering research & Development ) centre sponsored by Govt of Kerala and Technical Education Department. The National Technological Congress (NATCON) was initiated by (CERD), with an objective to improve the research activities at Engineering colleges.
