The Madras School of Social Works was established in Chennai in 1952. It is an autonomous institution. It is accredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC. This institution is run under the aegis of SSER ( Society for Social Education & Research). It is affiliated to the University of Madras.

The college provides good infrastructure facilities. It also encourages the students to take part in various activities. It aims to provide quality education while catering to the needs of the students.  It also provides financial support to the meritorious and financially backward students. It includes a fee waiver up to a maximum of 50%. This scholarship amount will be adjusted against the students’ semester fee.

The college offers a number of courses. It provides a degree in the fields of Art, Science, and Social Work. These are provided in the Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral levels. The MSSW admission is based on the entrance score and the performance of the student in the group discussion and the interview.

MSSW Clubs:

The college has a number of clubs wherein the students can join as per their interest. These clubs organize or conduct various activities throughout the year. It has a students’ development council wherein all the students are members. The eligibility criteria based on which the college provides admission to the various courses are as mentioned below.

MSSW Admission:

The candidates need to submit the application form online. It will be available on the college website www.mssw.in. All the relevant details should be filled carefully. The candidates applying for PG courses can apply for more than one course in the same application form. The application fee for each PG course is INR 500 and the UG course is INR 350. The fee can be paid in the online or offline mode.

After the submission of the form and the payment of fees, the candidates will receive the hall ticket for attending the entrance test which will only be conducted at the MSSW campus. The shortlisted students will be called for interview and group discussion. All the original and photocopies of the relevant documents mentioned by the college should be submitted at the time of the interview.


MSSW Hostel Details:

The college provides accommodation for the outstation students. The MSSW facilities include a separate hostel for boys and girls. It accommodates both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The hostel is allotted on the first-come-first-serve basis. The candidates after taking admission at the college should approach the hostel authorities for accommodation. The hostels also provide a mess facility. Only vegetarian food will be served.
