Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electronics & Communication Engineering), batch of 2017
  • There are total 5 hostels present in Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College: BH-1 (for 2nd yr), BH-2 (for 1st yr), BH-3(for 4th yr), BH-4 (for 3rd yr) and Ladies hostel.
  • The hostel fees including food are Rs. 12,000 per sem (6 months). Needless to say that those hostel are in excellent conditions. The rooms have chairs, tables, beds. Students may have to share a room with other roommates. 
  • The food in hostels is good having chicken in 3 days of the week, 3 days fish and 1-day veg.
  • Also sometimes the hostels have ID(Ideal Dinner) and GIDs(grand ideal dinner) and then a grand feast takes place in our hostels.
  • Also, those who do not want to stay in hostels, many messes, PG options are also there for the students. Around 1km from our college, there are plenty of mess available both for girls as well as boys with nominal costs. It is very easy to avail a mess or Pg in this area due to our college.
  • The classrooms are excellent fully equipped with green boards, desks, chairs, fans, lights, LAN ports(only for teachers) making a great place to concentrate and study.
  • The LABs of our college are also in good condition except for ECE department.
  • The workshops are also in great condition.
  • There is a new auditorium being built with sound-reflecting walls and more spacious one.
  • Currently the college provides an ultra fast internet to administrative buildings and classrooms only but not to the hostels. 
  • There are also plenty of playgrounds available on campus.

  • Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is known for having one of the finest campuses in West Bengal. With the lush green tea garden by the campus wall in the backdrop, and rivers running across the town, one feels rejoiced.
  • There are 4 boys' hostels in the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College campus and 1 girls' hostel. One can stay in PGs if required with reasonable rates.
  • The campus is well connected with internet facilities.


Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering), batch of 2019
  • There are around 6 hostels. 4 hostels are for btech students for boys, 1 hostel for girls and 1 for mtech student which is underconstruction. our hostel fees for each month is of around Rs 2000 per month. Hostel are quite older but are at good conditions with one common room,led tv,dormitory, badminton court,well conditions bathrooms,24*7 electricity.
  • Food in our college are good hygienic also one in a month grand ideal dinner is conducted which consist of quality food. It cost around Rs 130 per person.
  • All the facilities are of good condition, library is open from 10:00am to 5:00pm everyday. Lab are well air conditioned.

Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College provides its students a wide range of facilities like any other renowned institution of its kind.

Some of them are:

A Central Library having 15,000 titles and 40,000 volumes with modern software for library management and documentation.
2. Central Computing Facilities that provides a lab housing around 110 PCs and Central Servers.
3. Campus-wide Local Area Network in both wired optical fibre as well as wireless frameworks.
4. Video Conferencing System for virtual interactive classroom facilities from the faculties of priemier institutes in India and abroad.
5. Modern state-of-the-art Language cum Personality Development Lab to enhance the communication and managerial skills of its students.
6. Five hostels that provide accomodation to about 75% of the students.
7. Guest House to facilitate staying of parents, researchers and visiting faculty.

Central Library

The Central Library of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College was established in the year 1961. From a humble start with a few books, it now has an enviable collection of 49,349 valuable books and subscribes to 22 journals and periodicals(as on 1st April, 2007). Almost 3000 back-volumes of the journals are available. The Library also currently subscribes online to 5 e-journal packages namely IEL(120 journals), ASCE(30), ASME(19), Springerlink(520), Del(about 4000 enginering articles), which includes journals of both technical and supporting departments through the INDEST-AICTE consortium. The services are being offered mainly for the students, teachers and staff members.

An outsider may use the reference section of the Library with the prior permission of the authority concerned . Moreover any type of reference and referral services are available. Almost 6163 new volumes have been procured under the TEQIP grant from World Bank.

The newly built Central Computing Lab provides more than hundred computers in two state of art rooms.

Room 1 consists approximate 52 PCs,1 LCD hanging type projector, 1 writing board, Shutter type screen, OHP, 1 trolley for one pc and OHP for both theory and practical classes, Seminar, training course, computer practical, project work, Internet etc.

Approximate 52 PCs in room 2 will be used for computer practice, project work, internet.

Hostel 4 (N. C. Bose Hall) - for second and third year male students of CE, ME and CSE disciplines.
5. Hostel 5 (Ladies' Hostel) - for female students of all disciplines.
