Fees & Scholarships : The course fee of the Information Technology Department of JGEC is Rs.32500 per year. Students can apply for state levels or national-level scholarships like NSP or SVMCM. Maximum students got an SVMCM scholarship. No loans are needed.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : For getting admission to B.Tech. in Information Technology at Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, there is no age limit, candidates must be domiciled in India. Candidates got admission by WBJEE exam. Cutoffs of my course are around 3500 GMR rank in WBJEE for the general category.

Placements & Internships : I have not done any internship yet. But from the 6th semester onwards, students are eligible for on-campus internships and full-time offers. Companies visited the college for placement like Ericsson, Cognizant, Rakuten, Cloudkaptan, Netmeds, Willstower Watson, and media.net. Students got selected by off-campus companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Juspay, Media.net, Hotstar, BharatPe, Sony, etc. The highest package offer was made to the CSE dept. 44 LPA in Microsoft and the average package in college is 5 LPA. 80% of students from non-core branches got placed. 96% of students of the 2022 batch got placed. Our college's alumni association fully supports students.

Academics & Faculty : Class timings are not very hectic. There are exams like internals and semesters taken timely by professors. Also, assignments are given to students. The quality and method of teaching are good enough. Overall academic experience in my college is great.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are 4 Boys hostels and 1 girls hostel on our college campus. The hostel fee is 3000 per month. There are PGs also outside the college campus but their cost is much higher than the hostel. In college, hostel food quality is the same as in any government hostel. (not so good and not so bad). The classrooms are decent and well-equipped. Labs are in working condition and well equipped. There is a central library in our college with lots of books. There are dining halls in every hostel and LAN internet is available.

Clubs & Associations : There is a placement cell and an entrepreneurship development cell in our college. There are many clubs in our college like, Coder's club, dance club, music club, photography club, drama club, sports club, magazine club, etc. JECLAT is our annual cultural festival and SRISTI is our annual techno-management festival. Besides this, there are many events organized by our college like TEDx, Tour DE Jolu, Viswakarma Puja, Saraswati Puja, etc. College life in JGEC is awesome. A special thing is that you can see the beauty of Kanchenjunga from the college hostel.
