Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech:
- The Candidate must have Passed online CET Exam Conducted by IMU.
- For Scheduled Caste (SC) & Schedule Tribe (ST) Candidates, maximum age relaxation is for five (5) years
- Following Courses are offered by IMU, Chennai:
- 4-Year B.Tech (Marine Engineering)
- 4-Year B.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering)
- The Candidate has to produce the Medical Fitness Certificate at the time of admission.
- EyeSight(For B.Tech (Marine Engineering) only):
- Candidates must possess good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and a full field of
vision in both eyes).
- Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should
react normally to light and accommodation.
- Normal colour vision shall be tested by the Ishihara test chart.
- Distance Vision unaided 0.5*(6/12) in each eye or 0.67*(6/9) in better eye and 0.33*(6/18) in other eye.
- For all the above courses, the Eligibility is:
- 10+2/equivalent (PCM - a minimum of 60% aggregate) & English - a minimum of 50% in 10th/+2
- In case of SC/ST candidates, there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English Marks.
Scholarships:
- The scholarships and awards are offered on the based on merit and other backgrounds.
- They offer financial aid to SC/ST students. The Mumbai Port Trust funds 30 lakh as an endowment fund to the IMU.
- 5 deserving SC/ST students get a scholarship of Rs 50,000 each from that fund.
- Each scholarship is semester based only.
- Selection of deserving candidates is based on merit.
- Any SC/ST student who has been involved in ragging is ineligible.
Admission Procedure:
- Registrations are Online.
- The registration process is divided into two parts
(i) Basic Registration - this is for generating the Application Number.
(ii) Detailed Registration - in this process further details have to be submitted and
Application Fee is to be paid online
- Application Number will be communicated to the candidate by Email and SMS.
- Candidates can use Application Number as 'Login ID' and Date of Birth as 'Password' for further Communication.
- Candidates need not submit any hard copy of the application to IMU.
- Online counselling will be there.
