There are two hostels. The facility of hostel is convincible. Food is good and hygenic. The college infrastructure is excellent.

  • 4 hostel are there and condition is very poor. Rs 180000 per year is fees for hostel.
  • Rs 60 per plate is the rate of food of one time.
  • No WiFi, infrastructure is good. Quality of classroom is not too good.

Infrastructure Facilities at Indian Maritime University, [IMU] Chennai:

Campus:

  • The academic infrastructure includes 23 classrooms (out of which 11 classrooms are air-conditioned) equipped with audio-visual aid.
  • For training the deck personnel, the campus has a state-of-the-art Ship Maneuvering Simulator having the capability to generate images of various types of ships and port approaches in diverse operational and climatic conditions.
  • Engine room personnel get trained on Engine-room Simulator capable of creating different types of faults and emergencies.
  • Students get training in the fully equipped machine shop and workshops for plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, fitting, hydraulics etc. Laboratories for Chemistry, Physics & Navigation are available for training students.
  • A computer lab with internet connectivity exposes students to various computer applications.
  • The audio-video division produces video films for training and marketing. It has an archive of over 600 titles on DVDs covering a gamut of marine and port operations.

Ship Maneuvering Simulator:

  • For training the deck personnel, the campus has a state-of-the-art Ship Manoeuvring Simulator having the capability to generate images of various types of ships and port approaches in diverse operational and climatic conditions.

Library:

  • The university has more than 8,000 books, journals and magazines in the maritime sector to augment the academic studies of the students studying in the university.

Hostel:

  • The hostel complex can accommodate 250 residents.
  • Residents can get their physical workouts with outdoor/indoor games and a swimming pool.
