Government Medical College/Rajindra Hospital [GMCP] was established in 1953 by Maharaja Yadvinder Singh. GMC Patiala is one of the oldest institutions recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The college is also approved by UGC. Initially, GMC Patiala had an intake of 50 students for MBBS, but it currently has a strength of 225 students for MBBS. In addition, the college offers courses in medical sciences, nursing, pharmacy, and paramedical sciences. The college also has a dental college, a nursing college, a hospital, and a T.B Hospital as a part of its infrastructure.
GMC Patiala offers MBBS, internship and PG specialization, and super specialization courses. The super specialization is offered in Cardiology. The campus is equipped with the latest ICU, ICCU, laboratory, and classroom facilities. The IT cell and library ensure that students have access to the latest resources related to the medical field. Entrance Exams & Admissions : The person should be above the age of 17. He/she must have at least 60% marks in physics, chemistry, biology, and English in their 12th Board. The entrance exam is NEET. The cutoff for government seats is around 520 marks.
