GCT Coimbatore Admission 2024: Check Admission Details

GCT Coimbatore admission 2024 is provided for courses like B.Tech and ME. Applicants seeking admission to Government College of Technology Coimbatore must have a valid score in TANCET 2024. TANCET 2023 exams were on March 25, 2023, for the MBA and MCA courses and on March 26, 2023, for the MTech, ME, MArch, and MPlan courses. The TANCET 2024 results will be declared in April 2024 (Tentative).

GCT Coimbatore admission is provided in different UG and PG courses with various specialisations. To secure a seat in GCT Coimbatore, candidates are required to appear for the respective entrance tests. After this, candidates must register on the official website and fill up the GCT Coimbatore application form. GCT Coimbatore was initially affiliated with the University of Madras, later with the Bharathiar University, and since the academic year 2001-2002 with Anna University. In 1981, the Government College of Technology was granted autonomy for its civil and mechanical engineering postgraduate programs. Subsequently, in 1987, full autonomy for all programs was granted.

Government College of Technology, formerly known as the Arthur Hope College of Technology was established in 1945. The institute offers 9 UG programme and 11 PG programme. It also offers MS (by research) & Ph. D programme in all the branches of study.

Admission Procedure

• Candidates are selected for B.E course on the basis of TNEA score. Candidates can choose the courses on the basis of state-wise rank calculated by their scores in Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Department of Education, Government of Tamil Nadu.
• Reservations are provided for SC, ST, DNC, MBC, BC, Physically handicapped, Sportspersons, Ex-Servicemen and Other state candidates.
• Admission to all the UG and PG programmes (B.E, M.E) is done through the single window system of Anna University.
• Reservations are provided for BC/ MBC/ DNC/ SC/ ST etc as per the rules of Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
• Candidates are selected in the M.E/ M.Tech programme on the basis of TANCET/ GATE score.
• For MS (By Research) and Ph.D admission, candidates are shortlisted based on the selection list of Anna University. Based on the proposed list, they can do Ph.D and MS in the respective branches.

Courses Offered by GCT

The Government College of Technology offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses with many specializations. The institute offers B. E in full time and part-time mode. Selection in B. E programme is done on the basis of TNEA counseling. Candidates are selected in the postgraduate programme through Anna University Single Window System. Candidate must have a valid TANCET/ GATE score to get eligible for the programme.

GCT Application Form 2024

Government College of Technology offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a number of specializations within the field of engineering. The college accepts 80-120 students in each field of undergraduate study and 18-20 students in each postgraduate course. B. Tech/ B. E courses span over 4 years while M.E/ M.S courses are offered over a course of 2 years.

• Application Process: TNEA, Single Window System of Anna University
• Eligibility: For B.Tech: minimum 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. For M.E/ M.S, eligibility is undergraduate degree in the relevant field.
• Selection Process: By counseling in the single window system for B.Tech or based on Merit in TANCET and GATE
• Reservation: Backward classes/ most backward classes/ denotified communities/ scheduled classes/ scheduled tribes as per rules of the government of Tamil Nadu. At the postgraduate level, some seats are reserved for government employees.

GCT Admission Fee

• For full-time and part-time B.E degree courses, the admission fee is INR 200 (Applicable for both General and SC, ST candidates).
• INR 200 is the admission fee for M.E under GCT fee structure.

GCT UG Admission 2024

GCT Admissions into all undergraduate courses is through the TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) under Anna University. Candidates must have completed a minimum of 10+2 from a recognized board having taken Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as optional subjects. Although there is no entrance examination, candidates must apply online in order for their TNEA score to be calculated. Ranks are given purely on the basis of merit at the state level. Candidates can apply online at the Anna University Website. A fee of Rs 500 for general applicants and Rs 250 for applicants eligible under the reservation category will be levied in order for the application to be considered. The payment must be made by Demand Draft by June 3.

Postgraduate admissions are through the Anna University Single Window System. Candidates must possess a degree in a relevant field, obtained by way of full-time study, in the 10+2+3 format of education. Eligible candidates must appear for TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test). Merit in this test will determine admission. Candidates who have cleared GATE examinations do not need to sit for TANCET. The applications for the test are filled online at official website, however, the test itself is taken offline at an allocated center. Counseling for postgraduate courses is at the state level. Candidates can apply for TANCET online through the Anna University website. A fee of INR 500 for general applicants and INR 250 for applicants eligible under the reservation category will be levied in order for the application to be considered.
