I had written the PGCET exam in order to get admission into the college. The cut-off rank for MBA in BMS is less than 400 I think. Once you get a seat through KEA you'll have to submit your documents and your admission will be done. Quite an easy process
The college has got many clubs and associations which anyone can join based on their preferences. The college fest is one the best in this college, the fest will be for 5 days and is the best part. Overall I can say that is the best college for anyone who wants to have a great carrier ahead want to grab all the opportunities and work hard, and also a great platform to showcase yourself and great education platform and all the positive vibes in this college is all great. but always there is scope for betterment and the college improving on the placements and other minute things could become the best. I personally feel this college to be the best when I compare with other colleges in bangalore.
there are 3 hostels in the college campus itself. the hostel fees are 1.85lpa and 25k will be returned back at the end of the year, it is best to stay in the nearby PGs or to share your rooms . the locality here is student friendly where you can get all kind of PGs, rooms, to rent . the college has a canteen which is not so good limited options and not a great place to hangout. but you can find great places to hangout nearby.
the college has got a new buliding with high class labs, classrooms the auditoriums are all great which are equiped with latest technologies. overall the college infrastructure is good but the campus is not so big when compared with oter colleges. the college has has its own ground the indoor ground the parking facility is all good. but could be better.
the daily routine that is the college timings are kind of hectic, all day 9 to 4 with 2hr classes each.. the teaching faculty are one of the best. Professors are the most experienced ones. Most of the professors have been taught in NITs and all have doctorate in their respective fields. The one thing best about the college is the teaching faculty.

the MBA is the latest department added to the institute so it is improving day by day. the placements opportunities are good but not that best when we compare it with IIMs. the internships are given twice in Course that is after 1st year and also at the 4th sem. the companies that come for recruitment here mainly for marketing, finance, sales etc. the companies are not the best but for the fresher is like a good thing to work for. the salary figures averages at about 5to6 lpa thats not a great thing but certianly good for a fresher, most of the student get placed in differnt companies.

I wrote the PGCET entance exam to get into this college and my rank was 377. The cut-off for the year 2019 in PGCET exam was around 430.
You can get into the college through management quota or through the PGCET quota .
The college is quite big which allows every department to conduct their fests or programme there are clubs like toastmaster which helps the student to develop the soft skills like communication skills and etc fests are conducted every year which allows th estudents to show up their talent and other colleges are also invited to join the fest Overall its a very reasonable college to spend time and have fun and at the same time for our career too

Projectors are used in almost every class. The department is located in the top of the building which allows us to have a good climate.

Overall for a student who desperately wants to learn something everyday and trying to keep himself busy in studies its the right place for them to join.
BMS College of Engineering
Though the college is known for Engineering it also offers various courses like MBA, MCA, Architecture, Law. There are certain criterias to get into each courses but i will be sharing how to get into MBA department or the requirements to join MBA
BMSCE offers decent placements. Major recruiters are ITC, EY, Asian paints. Average package is is 3 LPA. Can go upto 7 LPA. Depending upon students ability. College have a placement cell which takes care of placements as well as internships.
there are two options 1. PGCET 2. Management
1. PGCET: this exam is only applicable to students of Karnataka. Minimum 7 years of education should be pursued in Karnataka. Students clearing this exam directly get admission from Government of Karnataka. To enter you need very good ranking. General merit cutoff stands at 400. Fees being 2.5 lakhs for overall academics.
Management: management quota can be applied by MAT, CMAT, CAT. This student has to face written, group discussion and personal interview round.
Academics and faculty:
BMSCE is an autonomous college affiliated with VTU. Although the college follow basic guidelines of University, they can modify the syllabus according to the requirements. They have very enthusiastic faculty that inspires students.
department of MBA maida recent shift to new well facilitated building. Ambience of college is overall very cool.
Clubs and associations:
college established toastmasters international club and NIPM club recently. Both are students driven clubs. I am currently e the president of toastmasters club camaraderie. It provides great learning opportunity e for public speaking and leadership. As far as college group is concerned you name the club we have it. From quiz club to nerds to bikers club adventure junkies.
however it is important to know the cons also before making a decision.
* It is not a B - school. It is a tier 3 college.
* Entire campus is not dedicated to MBA. Only half the the seventh floor is given to MBA.
*Department library does not have how much extra curricular books but you will find all books needed for academics.
*Department library closes at 5:00 p.m. College reference section opens till 9:00 p.m. but no no text books are allowed inside only e written or printed notes are allowed. The textbooks available in section are also so not very helpful for MBA students.
Students from BMS take initiatives to a lot of clubs and assosiations. From our departmanet we had had an oppurtunity to get into Toastmaster club which is a public speaking platform. It can make mircales for those students who think public speaking is next to impossible.
The main fest of BMS is UTSAV. This has been the best fest of Bangalore taking into consideration of all colleges. We have a department fest named Quest, which happens usually during the odd semester.
In general college campus and college life both are beautiful. Since the college is located at the city centre, it is attractive and easy to travel too. There is definitely positive vibes in and around the college as our collge is surronded by temples and Ashrams. This makes our college no less fun, there are plenty of students hanging out places near by college.
The BMS hostel is a beauty from outside. I have friends who stay in hostel and they have always praised the way hostels are maintaned. The hostels are a 5 start in everything and food tops the list. We had heard of college hostels having bad canteens and food, but BMS college hostels prove them wrong, as they give importance to taste of food and cleanliness ofcourse. The fees comes upto 1.8 L per one year.
The PG accomodation is also pretty good around the college. Iam an outsider, i have been in Bangalore for more than 4 years hence i chose to take up a room near my college area instaed of a PG accomodation.
The college canteen is a saviour for students like me who stay away from home and cooking becomes difficult. The canteen food is tasty and with good quantity. I spend not more than 100 rs per day for three time meals. It is definitely pocket friendly and healthy to some extent.
The classrooms, labs, libraries, dining halls are all perfect and nothing to complain about. We have a new building constructed in the campus which gives us a comfort feel to attend classes. The libraries are opened till late evenings which are very helpful.
The daily routine is not very hectic. We have classes from 8;55 AM to 1:05 PM for three days a week and 8:55 AM to 4:00 PM for 2 days a week amd saturdays will be from 9 AM to 11 Am or 12 AM roughly.
Assignments and Projects given are to deal with real life challanges in the corporate world. Its more than just paper and pen assignments. WE really get to learn a lot, not being over dramatic but this is the truth what i have come across.
The faculties are way too good to handle the class. It always has been an interactive session not because there are only smart students in the class, it is because of the faculty's way of talking to students and the way they show interest to all the 60 students in class. We are taught with examples and case studies to understand what really is required when we get to start working after college.
We have comfortable classrooms fit with AC, comfortable chairs to sit, beautiful library and very helpful Faculties and ofcourse our placement cell who has always been supportive. We are exposed to outside courses too which helps build our knowledge and resume too.
BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore Fee Structure. The fee for my course is Rs 25,000 per year with scholarship.
Since i got into BMS through en entrance exam, PGCET, i had to first pay 54000 to the university to block my seat in the selected college. Later on the day of admission in the college i had to pay 22,700 as college fees. The total amount came up to nearly 77000. I also applied for a scholarship, i have been sanctioned to recieve the scholarship of 52000. Which precisley means i will be refunded with the unviresity fee which i had paid.
The students getting into BMS MBA through managemnet will have to pay rougly 2.5 to 3 L per one year. Loans are available in different banks. The college has Allahabad bank within the campus to help students take a loan.
The college in whole and the department's key concern is definetly placement of the students. Since BMS is itself a brand we have a lot of companies coming to our college for recruitment. Our department starts with placement pretty soon. We have been open to a lot of internship oppurtunities which helps not just in learning but also is pocket friendly as we get stipend.
Our department's top recruiters are ITC, Berger, Asian paints, HFFC,EY, Byju's. The average salary package is 4.1L per annum and highest salary package offered stands to be 10 L per annum.
The graph of placement of students compared from year to year has been increasing. 79% of students from the batch 2017-2019 have been placed.
The Alumni network has been managed really good by our department. We get to speak to our seniors of passed out batch. Every saturdays the Alumins are invited to the college to have an interactive session with the juniors , who are currently studying in college.
We have come across various Alumins from the department coming for recruiting the students. Which leaves a good note about the Alumin network.
I got into BMS through PGCET. The eligibility criteria to sit for PGCET was minimum 50% of agregate in Under graduaction with all the subjects cleared and no backlogs. Since the exam was conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority, we had to follow the guidelines given by KEA to complete the admission process which would be put up on the KEA website. The students getting admitted to BMS through managemnet seat will have to sit for an interview conducted by the respective department. On the day of admission, we had to submit our documents to the college for verification along with the challan of fee payment to the university. We had to pay university fees to block our seats. After the verification, we had to pay the college fee.
The cutoffs for the course depends on several factors. I had a ranking of 428 in PGCET. This does not go the same with all the students getting into the particular course.
Every student is to complete a compulsory internship after the 2nd semester in order to complete a credit course for the awarding of the MBA degree.
The college helps the students in finding internships by taking aptitude tests and shortlisting the candidates for internships melas around the city. Interested students can attend the internship programs or if they desire can go and look out for internships on their own.
Companies that provide internships for the students might also offer preplacement offers to the student based on their performance and hire them at the end of their internship period.
The placements for the MBA dept generally begin in the 3rd semester for students under the eligibility criteria of a minimum percentage of 60% and no backlogs in order to maintain the standard of BMS.
Out of a particular batch around 90% are eligible for placements of which 10% do not take up placements due to their own business holdings. Roughly 70-75% of students are placed successfully in various companies such as ITC, KPMG, Deloitte, EY, Asian Paints, Berger, etc.
The salary packages are around 4-8 LPA based on the companies. The department is working tirelessly to bring in value-added courses in order to bring out the maximum potential of the students and to attract better pay packages from the companies.
The admission process generally begins around the month of June, at the same time as the PGCET exams. There are various modes of admission to the college i.e. through various entrance exams accepted by the college such as PGCET, CAT, MAT, KMAT, or via Management seat.
The selection process through management quota is a bit more complex than the ones through PGCET. It involves an aptitude test, group discussion, and finally a personal interview.
Other than PGCET, all the other entrance exams come under the eligibility criteria for admission under management quota.
PGCET students once they come under the cutoff for the college can opt for this institution and admission is given.
The total intake of the college for the MBA Dept is 120 students.
I took up the PGCET entance exam to get into this college . My rank was 377. The cut off rank for PGCET in 2019 was around 400
