Best MBA Colleges in South India Eligibility Criteria

With the increase in the number of applicants, it is considered a basic necessity for the college to set constraints to scrutinise the admission process. The eligibility criteria differs from college to college.

College-wise eligibility criteria can be found on the respective websites.  Below are the eligibility criteria for a few MBA colleges in South India.

• IIM, Bangalore: The candidate applying for the EPGP must have completed their graduation with a minimum securing 50% marks or equivalent.
  Candidates who belong to the SC/ ST and PwD category must have a minimum of 45% or equivalent CGPA.
  The candidate must also have a minimum of 5 years and preferably less than 12 years of work experience. All the postgraduate programs that the Institute offers candidates must have consistently good results in school, high school, and graduation.
  The candidates are also required to take up the CAT/GMAT examination and have valid score results. 
• IIM, Kozhikode: The candidate applying for admission to PGP must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks secured or equivalent grade. (45% in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/ PWD.
• Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai: The Candidate applying for MBA admission must have secured first class or 60% marks in the graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized (55% for SC/ST/PD candidates).
  They must also have valid CAT results, GMAT for NRI, and Foreign Nationals. Candidates who are in their final year are also eligible to apply to fulfill the requirements criteria. 
• Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli: IIT Trichy uses the CAT percentile for shortlisting candidates for the Personal Interview and Written Analysis Test. 
• Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai: For an MBA in Analytics, candidates must have 2 to 10 years of work experience. The candidate must also have an undergraduate degree from recognized university or professional qualifications.
  For PGPM, the candidate must have completed their Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 50% marks secured.
  The candidates are also required to take CAT/ GMAT/ XAT/ CMAT exams as part of the selection process. Typically candidates with more than two years of work experience are considered.
  Freshers and candidates with lesser experience may also apply.
• ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Hyderabad: The candidates applying for an MBA or Executive MBA must have a graduate degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% with the medium of instruction as English.
  Candidates must have completed work experience in managerial or supervisory positions for at least two years. Candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria for the English medium at graduation must submit TOEFL/ NELT/ IELTS scores.
• TA Pai Management Institute, Manipal: The Candidate applying must have completed a graduate degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  There is a Shortlisting for candidates with work experience of fewer than 24 months and candidates with work experience of more than 24 months.
• National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli: The candidate applying must have completed their graduate degree from a recognized university. They must also have a valid CAT score.
• Alliance University, Bangalore: The candidate applying for the MBA at Alliance must have computed their Bachelor's degree of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in any discipline from a recognized institution.
  The University accepts GMAT/ CAT/ NMAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ KMAT/ Alliance Management Aptitude Test (AMAT).

Various entrance examinations are conducted Nationwide and are accepted by the majority of the institutions for admission. Below are few such exams.

• Common Admission Test [CAT] is a computer-based examination. The test consists of Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability.
  Institutes like IIM/ IIT/NIT majorly focus on these tests as they have a very high cut-off percentile for admission. 
• Management Aptitude Test [MAT] is a standardized test for many B. Schools for MBA and allied programs admissions.
• Xavier Aptitude Test [XAT] is a nationwide conducted entrance examination. It has verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability, and Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge sections.
• Graduate Management Admission Test [GMAT] is also an Entrance examination for the MBA and Allied Programs. The GMAT scores are valid for five years. Many institutions accept GMAT exams as International or international students.
