Papiya Banerjee's Review on University of Calcutta, [UC] Kolkata

After I finished my masters I joined an organization where people can get minimum INR 5k to 15k per month. As an intern, the role was of a social counseller.

There is no as such campusing but off-campus, most of my batchmates are placed and many of them have gone abroad for higher studies.

Alumni network is strong for those who need help.

There are 4 constructed buildings, for male and female separately and the cost per month will be approximately INR 500.

Outside pgs are good in Calcutta, university area is a posh location so within 6 km student can get affordable pg with 3 times food.

So, inside the college there is a canteen. Food is yummy and reasonable.

As its an old constructed building the infrastructure is old, but maintained enough. Labs, libraries, dining halls are clean and good enough.

The eligibility criteria for taking admission in the University Of Calcutta is a candidate must have at least 55% of marks in graduation, and if the candidate is already a student under the University of Calcutta, they can directly take admission for post-graduation courses. If not you have to take an entrance examination which will be held on the university campus in the month of June every year.

As I was already a student at the University of Calcutta and my percentage was matching their criteria and I got selected for direct admission

The entrance examination will be based on graduation major subject and compulsory subjects

The minimum cutoff mark is 55%.

Department of Sociology is a little strict on attendance, class timings, special papers which is projects and assignments student must be very serious and regular.

The teaching staffs are highly professional and experienced.

The overall experience in University was really good.

As it is a government institution the fee structure is very less. The course fee is INR 1200 per year.

There are scholarships available for students who economically not sound.

Among 50 students only 3 students can avail the scholarship.

For outside students may be loan required, students themselves have to manage the loan part.

Student political parties are there, for them there is association inside the campus.

Sports, Annual Day, sometimes events organised by the students.

College life was the best till life, with studies we enjoyed life a lot.
