Placements and Internships

4

  • There is a vast opportunity to do internships and courses in the college itself which are offered and done under the professors. All these are unpaid. Professors also help students find internships outside the college which may be paid or unpaid.
  • Coming to placement in DSI, a huge number of IT, as well as non-IT companies, conduct campus drives for placement. The main companies are Accenture, Infosys, HP, Cognizant, Bosch, and many other reputed companies.
  • Almost 80% of students are placed and the college helps to equip the student with skills required to sit for placement. IT branches such as computer science, EC and telecommunication get vast opportunities of companies to choose from while non-IT branches get a bit lesser than that.
  • The annual salary offered by these companies ranges from Rs.10-12 lakhs a year to Rs.2 lakhs a year depending on an individual student's profile.
  • I have been placed in Accenture for salary of Rs.3.5 lakhs a year. As mentioned before close to 80% of students are placed every year.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4.5

  • DSI is noted for it's well-equipped infrastructure. The campus area is huge and hosts many different buildings. Almost all departments have their own department building.
  • Apart from this, the college has 4 hostels. 2 for boys and 2 for girls. There is an NRI hostel each for boys and girls which are higher priced than the normal hostel. NRI hostel fees are around 1 and a half lakhs while normal hostel fees are under a lakh per year. This fee includes meals and other facilities like gym and WiFi.
  • Apart from the hostel, various PG and personal accommodation options are available for students which are within walking distance from the college. The cost for these range from Rs.1,000 to Rs.4,000 per month depending on the size and facilities.
  • The college hosts two canteens and one cafe within the campus. The price of each meal is an average of 60 rupees and is quite reasonable. It is also hygienic and good. Many choices of food are available in both the canteens ranging from Indian to Chinese.
  • Each classroom in the campus is spacious and equipped with fans and lights. Each classroom has a smart board and projector. Lab facilities for each branch are very good having all the required equipment to carry out experiments.
  • The college boasts a huge smart Library which has vast choices of books, magazines, and journals as well as computers for research. The library also has study rooms and AV rooms. The whole campus is Wi-Fi enabled. A convent selling books and other stationary is found on the campus as well as an amphitheater for programs.
  • For sports and fitness, there is a football field and basketball and tennis court as well as a gym.

Academics and Faculty

4

  • College starts at 9am and can go up to 5pm depending on the timetable. Classes do not extend after 5pm.
  • Each class is for an hour and labs are conducted for 3 hours, twice a week.
  • Internal as well as external assessment is done. Internal assessment is done by the college teachers by conducting two tests per semester as well as through assignments and activities. External assessment is done at the end of the semester for 100 marks.
  • Classes are conducted regularly by professors who are well qualified in the subject and equipped with sufficient knowledge. Each teacher is passionate about the subject and their mode of delivery is very good. They are also approachable and clear doubts and are always eager to help students.
  • DSI boasts a huge campus and many facilities such as an auditorium, library, grounds, lab, and research facilities. The infrastructure is very good and whole college experience is disciplined and yet enjoyable.

Fees and Scholarships

3.5

  • Since I applied through COMEDK quota, my fees are Rs.1,60,000. Students under CET quota have to pay fees of Rs.65,000 and those under management quota to pay fees of Rs.1,90,000.
  • Various scholarship options are available for merit students as well as economically backward students. Scholarships may cover full tuition fees as well as some percentage of fees.
  • Loans can easily be acquired from all major banks across Bangalore after fees and other documents from college is shown.

Clubs and Associations

3.5

  • Various students societies and clubs are found in the college to expand your knowledge outside the University curriculum. They can be branch specific or general. One example is Society of Automobile Engineers which is specific to Automobile, Mechanical, and IEM students.
  • These societies participate in competition in India as well as abroad. Yearly dear of the engineering college is called Furore which conducts many events and competitions for all colleges in India.
  • Other than this branch specific fests are carried out throughout the year and also many conferences are organized.
  • Students studying in this college are exposed to their area of study as well as other factors such as industry experience, opportunities to study further etc. They are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities and competitions.
  • The vast diversity of students are also found on campus and the whole experience is knowledgeable as well as enjoyable.
