Placements and Internships

5

  • Placements is one domain where Nsit is far far ahead of other regional colleges. Placement records of Nsit are at par with best IITs and NITs. Dataquest, a govt organistion, has ranked nsit 2nd for its placements after IIT-BOMBAY. Many students have bagged plackages of over 1 crores.
  • Average salary is in the range of Rs 9-12 LPA, highest is Rs 1.25 crores per annum and lowest is Rs 5 LPA. Past recruiters include google, codenation, microsoft, qualcomm, texas instruments, flipkart, snapdeal, IBM and the list goes on. So one has a great chance of bagging a dream job in his dream company. These companies visit for both tech and non-tech profiles.
  • This is because nsit has a very strong and established alumini network.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

3.5

  • There are 4 boys hostels, one for each year. It has enough rooms to accomodate the candidates who need it. Hostel fee is around Rs 30,000-40,000 including mess for students.
  • PG is available in the vicinity of college at Rs 8,000-10,000 p.m. But hostel is adviced from the point of view of security, flexibilty and peer-group interaction.
  • The campus in all has 4 locations where you can eat, each having good food. But since these are subsidized, so the costs are usually close to market price. Rs. 40-60 is enough for a satisfying your belly.
  • Nsit's campus has a lot of greenery and is quite picturesque, but in terms if facilities, its not that good. Demand for a fully wifi enabled campus is still due. Wifi is available only at specific locations. As i said, infrastructure is not very good. Labs are fine and have the required apparatus in good working stage. Campus has a 3 floor aur conditioned central library with all the required books of your need. Classrooms are just the same as one had in schools, so not too good. Apart from that nsit's campus is one of the most beautiful ones. Peacocks are a common site here. Campus is not over-populated and there are a numberof spots where you can enjoy with your friends or spend time alone if you want. Also sports facilities are good with a cricket ground, Football ground, 2 basketball courts, 2 volleyball courts, tennis court, badminton court etc. Regular coaching for them is available and nsit has good teams. To encourage sports, several sport meets are regularly organised.

Academics and Faculty

4

  • Nsit is known for it's student friendly curriculum. It aims at teaching students the required skills without undue pressure. Due to this, students have a lot of free time to explore, learn and try their hands on new technologies and skills. Societies are very active and and have been winning many inter-college events. Timings vary in the time frame of 8:30 Am to 6:30pm. The syllabus has been updated from the batch of 2016. I would say faculty is not very good. But some professors are very experienced and always available to help students with their projects. Many professors have international recognition and regularly publish journals. Students are free to take up projects of their choice. Every semester, on an average there are just 5 theory subjects and rest are practical subjects, hence making exams less hectic. But since all professors are not up to the mark, self study is the tool to excel in exams. Yet another thing that is not in favour of nsit is that classrooms are not smart and conventional method of teaching is prevalent. But one factor that neutralises all the short-comings is the junior-senior relationship. As per my observation it is better than even many IITs. So in Nsit, maximum learning takes place outside classrooms. Your seniors will benefit you more than your teachers.

Fees and Scholarships

4.5

  • Nsit has an easily affordable fee structure, around INR 90,000 per year. As you see, its quite less in comparison of other engineering colleges.
  • On the basis of the academic performance, top 25% students get scholarship.
  • For those who wish to go for loans, they are easily available from any bank.

Academics & Faculty : On an honest remark, the course curriculum is quite outdated for all branches (except for IT), dating back to 90s. And, there's no choice for desired courses, thus making some of the subjects irrelevant to be taught compulsarily. Corresponding to the curriculum, yes, the teaching methodologies are primitive as per the course, but when it comes to teachers, there are some pretty good professors in almost every department who have a profound national reputation. Also, if you are good in some field or carry a passion for something, you can approach the respective professors for guidance or getting under them for projects etc.
