Academics and Faculty
- At Xaviers Labour Relation Institue, [XLRI] Jamshedpur For each 3 credit course, the course structure is designed to engage the student for 100 hours. 30 hours is in class and remaining 70 hours is outside the class. Timetable is set so that on an average we have 3-4 classes daily of 1.5 hours each. Most of the subjects require a pre-read and almost all of them have a group project. The assignments and projects usually stress on the group dynamics and leadership skills. Exams consists of mixed bag of in-class quizzes, mid-terms and end terms.
- The faculties prepare slides and the method of teaching is mostly case based where we have to apply the learnings from the chapter and come up with solutions as a group.
- The overall experience is awesome. It is a basic shift for me as graduation was mostly theoretical concepts and less application while here the faculty here mostly makes sure that theoretical part is covered outside the class and practical applications are introduced inside the class.

- It boasts of India's biggest and oldest market research fest called as MAXI Fair. A long living heritage of XLRI- IIM C sports meet, ensemble, Valhalla (cultural events) are the major festivals on campus.
- College has a lot of events happening throughout the year. It is difficult to get a weekend free such is the liveliness of the campus. The 3 night canteens in the campus feed you. Campus literally never sleeps.

It's bitter sweet, like the burn you feel after a good workout. 80% of the faculty lives up to the XL standards. They are impressive and tough and make your life miserable with their expectations. A Few suck. Most popular method of teaching here is case based. Pre-reads are given out in abundance and everyone strikes their unique balance between academics and fun. Overall, XL challenges you to become your best self.
