Placements and Internships
- Internship opportunities are provided to the students at National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur [NIT Hamirpur].
- Various IT companies and core companies take part in placements which goes on for the entire year. some names can be Samsung, infosys, Capgemini, Wipro, Accenture, verizon and others.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- There are around 17 hostels in total at National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur [NIT Hamirpur]. All the hostels have a Lan and Wifi connectivity. Hostel fee is divided in two parts. One in rent which is Rs 2400 per year only. and other is mess charges which vary but reside in the range on Rs. 20,000/- to Rs. 25,000/- per year.
- Food quality varies according to the strength of the hostel. For example, a hostel with student strenght 600 (Mostly given to second year students) has really bad food. and other which only have 100-200 students at a time have relatively very good food quality.
- Classrooms are all very good, with a newly constructed lecture hall with futuristic vision. almost all the campus is connected via Wifi. There is one computer centre with has around 70-80 systems open 24*7 for use. Library is world class. with three very large reading rooms fully AC, and arounf 15,000 books.
Academics and Faculty
- The routine at National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur [NIT Hamirpur] is very extensive in the first year and then it eases as you move ahead. Professors are glad to help out willing students. The courses start from the basics and move towards specifics. Almost all the professors use letest techs to teach. Assignments are given on regular basis. 20% of marks are on the basis on your performance, participation and attendance in class. so A good place for those who are self motivated.
Fees and Scholarships
- Course fee at National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur [NIT Hamirpur] is Rs. 27,000/- (odd sem) + Rs. 25,000/- (even sem) for a year.
- Lots of scholarship are available through out the college period on the basis of acadmics, cast, annual income of parents.
- On an average 10-15 students out of 80 in a batch get scholarship.
- A branch of SBI is in the campus itself and there are verious other bank loan options available. But the college has no part in it.
Clubs and Associations
- There are many student societies at National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur [NIT Hamirpur] but for all of them you have to get in in the first year itself.
- A lot of opportunities are presented to all the students in cultural, tech and sports field. The annual cultural fest named Hillffair is the main event every year, happens in odd sem. and the tech fest, which is relatively lesser known takes place in the even sem. so there is quite a lot to do, if you are not lazy.
- Life, in general, is not so hectic and when you roam around the beautiful campus at 2 AM, it feels like heaven.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The admission procedure or selection criteria is through jee mains. The cut off in mechanical for state quota students were higher and computer science was very much in demand for other state quota students. Now with the introduction of integrated courses, all India rank upto 45000 and state rank upto 300 will give you a seat in NIT if you are from general category. As for other category students are concerned cut off can go as low as all India rank 150000.
