Placements and Internships

4.5

  • I haven't really taken up internships since I'm still in first year.
  • From what I am told 80+ companies come for placements every year and almost everyone gets placed.
  • Packages ranging from Rs 6 lakhs to 16 lakh per annum.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

3.5

  • There are two boys hostels and two girls hostels but I cannot review them as I am a day scholar.
  • There are a lot of PGs available too around the campus with reasonable cost.
  • The infrastructure is quite average since the buildings are old but the newer ones are pretty good. You are provided with wifi on campus and the libraries and labs are well equipped.

Academics and Faculty

4

  • Well the daily routine differs each semester but is pretty much like how it used to be in school days with 6 hours of class on an average and lesser on some days. But you have classes on Saturdays too so that's a turn off really. You are tested on each subject in the beginning of every month which means you undergo three tests before tje final exam. You get a quiz or an assignment between consecutive tests. The three tests+quiz+assignment account for 50 percent of your grade, so you'd have to be pretty ignorant to actually fail a subject. Teaching differs from teacher to teacher (obviously), some teachers are really good, some are okay and with some you really don't know what's going on. But you don't have to worry if you don't understand cuz you'll find notes you can refer to so that's good. The teacher's are a little bit conservative so if you come from a big town you'd want to take your precautions to be on the good side of your lecturers.
  • With a very generous rating of 8 I'd say my overall experience is quite nice.

Fees and Scholarships

4.5

  • The course fee depends upon on which entrance exam you take up. Which is either CET or COMEDK so it keeps changing every year I guess. So you might want to research on them instead.
  • There are scholarships available but I am not quite sure about them so I am giving no misleading information.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Getting placed in a good college may not be easy, but the hard work surely pays off in the end! My experience to get to SJCE was no different. I had to get through so many adversities to find a seat for myself. The first and most important thing is to secure a good percentage in the 12th, which will give you an upper hand later on in the KCET (Karnataka common entrance test) rankings. Anything between 85 to 100 is a healthy number. The next step would be to score well in the KCET in the three core subjects (physics, chemistry, and maths). It is recommended to go through the previous model papers before proceeding with the test. Anything above 70% is a good score in KCET. Taking into consideration both the boards and the entrance score, a ranking is provided to the student. You could argue that anything below 20k is a good rank, but to get to a college like SJCE, you need to secure below 10k. There are other parameters to be considered like the stream you would like to opt. The circuital branches
