Full form of BAMS

The full form of BAMS is "Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery" which is an undergraduate program that one can pursue after completing class 12th with science subjects which focuses mainly on the concepts of the natural healing process of the human body which is further enhanced by Ayurveda. BAMS is an emerging course as a supplement to the modern medical services and treatments which has many side effects too along with some benefits of treatment.

It focuses on "Aastaang Ayurveda" along with the scientific methods of modern medical technologies and along with extensive practical training. Central Council for India Medicine is the statutory regulatory body which mentors and monitors the Ayurveda Education at the undergraduate level as well as postgraduate level too.

The syllabus and curriculums will be same throughout the colleges located in India. The admission to the BAMS  is conducted only in colleges affiliated to Universities. Permission from the Dept. of AYUSH, Union Govt. of India is required to get the admission. Students can also get admission in this course after giving the NEET exam.

Eligibility for BAMS course

  • Age Limit: Candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 1st December for admission year.
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects and obtained minimum 50% marks in physics, chemistry biology has taken together. Candidates who belong to SC/ST/OBC must score minimum 40% marks in qualifying examination.
  • Candidates must appear in the entrance exam conducted by Central Govt or State Govt.
  • All admission will be done through centralized online counselling.
