Walchand College of Engineering Sangli was established in 1947 and is located in Vishrambag, Sangli, Maharashtra. This college started with an undergraduate course in Civil Engineering and a capacity of 60 students. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is recognized by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college offers UG, PG, and Doctoral courses in different specializations Admission for the course is based on entrance exams such as  MHTCET and JEE Main.

Walchand College of Engineering Sangli became an autonomous institute in the year 2007 and its entire structure was revamped based on the advice of US, IIT experts, and academic counselors. The college participated in the World Bank-funded scheme Technical Education Quality Improvement Program and stood 2nd out of 127 institutes that participated in the program. Walchand College of Engineering has a scheme for full-time doctoral programs and also offers Ph. D. programs of Shivaji University in various branches of engineering. WCE admissions are done on a merit basis.
