  • The college timings are good. It is from 8 A.M to 1 P.M. It gives us adequate time to go home and study or engage in other activities.
The variety and quality of projects and assignments given are excellent.
  • Examinations not only deal with just mugging up but critically thinking and evaluating the discussions. Ample number of presentations and documentaries are shown and workshops are conducted. All round development is empgasized.
  • Students having high academic as well as extra curricular capabilities get admission here.
  • Faculty for Literature, Sociology, Anthropology are really good. Audio visual is used when required.
Abundance of books in the libraries for reference is available. Also, the canteen has a variety of categories for food. The overall experience is amazing. It's the best environment any one can ever get in a campus.
  • The campus has its own counselling centre, chapel, labs and many more. The architectural beauty is amazing. It's worth an experience! However, the crowd comprises mostly of people from elite backgrounds. They expect you to cope up with them. Also, the students over here are obsessed with Malhar. Malhar is a fest where people just go to play games and chill out with friends. If you ever get into St Xavier's College, don't go for Malhar! It is the worst experience ever. It is hyped too much. However, the college facilities are amazing! The negative point lies with the crowd and not the college! Please do get into Xavier's. It's once in a life time experience!

Hi Ravi!

The admission procedure for B.M.M. in St Xaviers College, Mumbai is as follows :

St. Xavier’s College – Autonomous, affiliated to the University of Mumbai, runs the BA, BSc, BCom, MA and MSc Government Aided Degree Courses on Campus. The College also runs the BMM, BMS, BSc I.T., M.Sc. Biotechnology and MA Public Policy, Degree Courses on a Self-Financing Basis. The College has also introduced the UGC sponsored B.Voc Degree Coursesin Tourism and in Software Development from the academic year 2014-2015.  The University of Mumbai awards degrees for all these courses.

Admissions to most degree courses, except those explicitly specified (the BMM and BMS and the MA Ancient Indian Culture and MA Public Policy, and M.Sc Life Sciences), are done on the basis of the overall percentage of Marks scored in the Qualifying Examination. If the Qualifying Examination awards Grades, these are converted into percentages according to a scale provided by the University of Mumbai.

The College is a Catholic Minority College, administered under the Provisions of the Indian Constitution, to promote the welfare of the Minority community and to extend its services to all other communities in India, so as to contribute to the harmony and integration of Indian society. 50% of seats are reserved for Catholic Minority students. As per the directives of the Government of Maharashtra, there is also a reservation for Special category students and for Backward Class students. The rest of the seats are for students from the General Category.

Applications for Admissions to all the Under-graduate Degree courses are done online through a facility on this website, located on the Homepage. This facility will be available from 20th May 2016 a few days before the declaration of the HSC results in Mumbai. This date is uncertain and is normally in the first part of June. Admissions will actually be done on days to be announced, through an interview of the candidate and one parent/guardian, of those listed on the website and on the College Notice board as being offered admission.

Applications for Admissions to all the Post-graduate Degree courses are also done online through a facility on this website, located on the Homepage. Degree results of Mumbai University are declared.  This date too is uncertain and is normally sometime in June. Admissions will actually be done on days to be announced through an interview of the candidate and one parent/guardian, of those listed on the website and on the College Notice board. Once the dates of the interviews are announced, outstation students are requested to make travel arrangements in advance, even before the merit lists are declared, as your presence for the interview is essential.

Hi Anshul,

Admissions:

  1. Admission of students into the Autonomous Degree Courses will be on the basis of the aggregate marks in the qualifying examination or its equivalent, for both the Undergraduate Courses and the Masters Courses, unless specified otherwise.  The quota system as specified by the Government of Maharashtra will be followed for Minority, Backward Class and other candidates.
  2. For the BMS & BMM Courses, unlike other courses, the students come from all 3 faculties (Arts, Science & Commerce) where the marking systems are very different.  Hence an Entrance Test for these courses will be conducted for admission purposes.  Admissions to the BMS & BMM will be on the basis of the entrance test: 60%, an interview: 20% and the XII Std. marks: 20%.

The M.Sc Life Sciences programme will also have an Entrance Test for admission and the M.A. in Ancient Indian Culture will hold an Entrance Test for students from faculties other than Arts.

  1. All applications for admissions to any undergraduate or postgraduate Degree Course should be submitted by the date notified by the College. Late applications may not be accepted.
  2. Admissions can be considered to be granted only when the full fees for the academic year are paid, an official receipt has been issued and the name of the applicant appears on the relevant rolls. Payment in full or in part can be condoned or deferred by the Principal.
  3. All admissions, both of undergraduates and post-graduates, are valid only for one year and are therefore to be renewed for each subsequent year of study. Students who misbehave and have serious complaints of indiscipline against them during the year will not be re-admitted to the College.
  4. No student will ordinarily be re-admitted to the College after three unsuccessful attempts at the same examination or after s/he has not been granted terms by the College in two successive years.
