North Bengal Medical College is one of the oldest public medical establishments in West Bengal. The institute is affiliated with West Bengal University of Health Sciences. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses. NBMC admissions are done on the basis of the NEET exam conducted every year. The University accepts NEET UG, NEET PG, and NEET SS exams. 

NBMC currently has an intake of 200 students in the MBBS course. The specializations offered in PG include General Medicine, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Radiodiagnosis, Psychiatry, and Otorhinolaryngology. The subjects for SS include Nephrology, Neurology, Cardiology,  Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The university is funded by the government of West Bengal and has state-of-the-art facilities in terms of labs and teaching aids.
