MAEER’s Maharashtra Academy of Naval Education and Training, [MANET] Pune was founded in 2001 in the MIT, Kothrud campus to train Cadets to join the Merchant Navy. MANET was later shifted to Rajbaug Campus, Loni-Kalbhor in the year 2004. MANET was established as a vision-project to empower India to expand horizon in the maritime field.

The institute believes that with the help of integrated programs and advanced teaching techniques, they can bring a change in the education system by imparting quality education to students. The personnel lies on the establishments of imagination, and the need to improve their inventive components by encouraging the different foundation of individual articulation.

MAEER's Maharashtra Academy of Naval Education and Training Courses:

MANET was established to provide education to candidates who want to join the Merchant Navy. Below are the courses mentioned along with their specializations that are provided by the college.

B.Tech Marine Engineering:

The duration of the course is four years and the annual intake of students for the course is 200. The course provides knowledge for operating & maintaining the machinery in a safe & sufficient way. 

B.Sc Nautical Science:

This course has a duration of three years. The annual intake of students for this course is 120. The students gain knowledge in ship navigation. The students can be designated as Navigating officers. Navigating officers are responsible for the loading, discharging of cargo, radio communication of ships safety of the crew & passengers.

MANET Facilities:

The institute has world-class infrastructure and student facilities with a student-centric approach. The environment around the campus is perfect for a learning and teaching environment. 

The institute has state of the art library facility. The library at the MANET is divided into B.Tech and B.Sc library. The aim of the institute's library is to provide ample sources to the students.

The B.Tech section at MANET has 8,198 books that are organized as per the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. The institute also has 831 reference books related to maritime codes, Institute of Marine Engineers Publications, OCIMF Publications, IMO Publication latest editions, etc. The library has subscribed to around 26 periodicals out of that 14 are technical and 12 non-technical, major among those are Seatrade, IMO News, Motorship, MAREX Bulletin, Bhandarkar Shipping News, Oceanite, Sailor Today, etc.

Apart from hardcopy resources the library also has online softcopy resources. MANET library has CD’s collection that contains MAN and B&W, KARCO Series, Safety at Sea, Ship Safety Movies, etc. MANET B.Sc Nautical department has 1863 books.

The reference books among those are 443 in numbers. The library subscribes to technical periodicals like Maritime Gateway, Horizon Ahead & some Indian Journals. The library is open from Monday to Friday at 09:00 Hrs. to 19:00 Hrs.

The institute has well-maintained labs for various purposes. All the practicals are conducted and performed under the guidance of trained faculty members. Some of the labs at the institution are mentioned below:

MANET Eligibility Criteria:

Before taking admission the candidate must fulfil the below-mentioned criteria. The eligibility criteria are mentioned below in detail.

  • Candidates must have completed 10+2 from a recognized Board
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with PCM as subjects and 60% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th standard
  • The candidates should be less than 25 years of age and should be unmarried
  •  IMU CET-2020 has been cancelled. Admission will be based on HSC/ PUC/ Intermediate Examination. Rank Certificate will be issued by IMU based on the normalization method. The last date for registration is extended up to 21.08.2020.
  • They should meet the minimum physical fitness and medical standards

MANET Admissions:

The eligible candidates can apply online on the official website of the college. Admissions will be based on past academic performance. The candidates need to fill the application form online after that an automated mail would be sent on registered email ID with username and password. It is essential for the candidate to remember username and password for further transactions like printing of the application form, admit card, etc.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Eligibility criteria: You will have to have minimum 65% aggregate in your 12th standard with science stream and you should be fit enough to resist the tough schedule. Entrance exam: apply for the IMU CET that is the entrance test I have given. There are no actual cut offs for this course.
