Reviews About Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts, [SSLA] Pune

BSc. (Computer Studies), batch of 2018

The list of courses available at the college is non-exhaustive, if you will. These can range from both relevant to your field and absolutely fascinating/refreshing. The pedagogy is unlike any other, in my experience. Most faculty members are approachable, helpful, competent, et al. during college hours and after.

From what I have read, there are a lot of international institutes that SSLA has tie-ups with ranging from Universities in the US and all the way to Germany or the UK. The primary language of conversation is English. There are quite a few people who go for student-exchange programmes abroad and similarly, quite a few who visit SSLA from foreign Universities.

The number of clubs and associations (including Sports) are enormous, ranging from Poetry Club to Economics Society and Sports team for Football, Cricket, etc. All in all, this is one of the best features of the college.

Student diversity and tolerance with regards to factors like gender, ethnicity, etc. is really good. This is, perhaps, one of the proudest thing to announce because there has literally been no incidences, in my experience, since the day I enrolled, of harassment or something of the sort on the aforementioned grounds.

Drug use (including alcohol) is strictly prohibited on campus.

There are quite a few eateries, bars, pubs around the campus but not within. Some of the famous examples are German Bakery, High Spirits, Incognito, Cafe Milano.

Liberal Arts, batch of 2018
The permanent faculty are amazing. Most of them are young which helps them to connect to with the students and take classes in an enjoyable fashion. Most of the visiting faculties are very well read and know their topic inside out. As far as I know the only faculty which is dissappointing is the English Majors faculty, I hope they do change this particular individual in the future.

I find the social atmosphere highly diverse. The teachers are very helpful and trained in multiple subjects. There have never been any ragging cases in SSLA which is a big positive aspect. The availability of a huge slection of subjects keeps the students very happy. The students are very well spoken and have a helpful attitude towards fellow students and show no hostility towards the newbies.

Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Psychology), batch of 2016
Partnerships for exchange programs with many universities across Europe and America. Lots of incoming international students and interactions with them, leading to learning about different kinds of cultures and consequently, tolerance.

Extremely diverse range of clubs, fulfils many interests, and opportunities to start new clubs are abundant. Anyone can join, so they encourage interaction between different kinds of people and increase tolerance.

There are many different kinds of people studying here and college curriculum is designed in a way to encourage interactions, which leads to off-campus friendships and socialising. Inclusive atmosphere.

Bachelor of Arts [BA], batch of 2018
Very wide range of elective subjects, from Urdu to Ballroom Dancing and more. Class sizes are small, increasing interaction with faculty. Faculty is very approachable during college hours and after, on email or over the phone. Teaching is student centric and the topics covered are flexible to the interests of the students. Assessments are done throughout the semester with a final evaluation of not more than 40 marks, giving us the opportunity to score through projects and other assignments and reducing the burden at the end of the semester.

A lot of international students and NRIs are a part of this institution. There are a large number of semester exchange programs and semester abroad opportunities with universities in the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Germany, UAE, and more.

Clubs meet quite often and participate in various competitions around Pune and across the country. There are a lot of clubs, such as MUN, Music, Poetry, Theatre, Economics, Public Speaking Society and Dance.

It is a largely diverse group with students from all parts of the world belonging to all religions, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds and sexual identities, and there have been no instances of intolerance so far. Ragging is punishable by law and is strictly prohibited. Alcohol consumption/possession and smoking are prohibited on campus and in the hostels. There are a lot of restaurants around Viman Nagar and its surrounding areas which are affordable and usually filled with students. An SSLA favourite is High Spirits at Koregaon Park.

Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Economics), batch of 2016
clubs and assosications are lacking in ssla, however collaborations have taken place and are encouraged - collaborlations have taken place to arrange workshops and performances

Symbiosis school for liberal arts is very diverse. We have foriegn exchnage programmes each semester that makes our society very acceptable. there a compulsory classes on multicultural worldviws and diverisity
