The Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth [MPKV], Pune is the premier Agricultural University in Maharashtra that provides services to the farmers through Education, Research, and Extension Education. 

In 1972, 4 agricultural universities were established in Maharashtra. Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth is one of them set up in 1969 for western Maharashtra having control spread over 10 districts which are Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Dhule, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune, Solapur, Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapur. This University is named after the well renowned social reformer "Mahatma Jyotiba Phule".

The Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth Admissions are performed very selectively and contain the largest number of foreign students in comparison to all other Indian Agricultural Universities.

Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls on the campus. The intake of students in the boys' hostel is 590. The total girls' intake in the hostel is 432. MPKV facilities also include an International students' hostel with an intake capacity of 18 students.
