Lady Shri Ram College for Women has long been recognized as a premier institution of higher learning for women in India. A center for academic excellence and achievement, it is today one of the finest institutions for Social Sciences, Humanities, and Commerce, while also offering a B.Sc. Program in Statistics. Professional courses like Elementary Education and Journalism are among their strengths. Located at the cutting edge of knowledge, LSR has not just kept pace with the changing world but has been the pioneering spirit behind many innovations in the field of education.
The LSR college Placement Cell serves as an interface between the students and the Corporates. Apart from bringing a varied list of Recruiters to the campus, The Lady Shriram college Placement Cell also organizes talks, study abroad seminars, internship opportunities, and workshops for the collective student body. As an added feature skill-building workshops such as workshops for Personal Interviews and Group Discussions and Personality Development have been introduced to help make the Placement Cell more like a ‘Career Services’ Unit rather than just for Final Placements.
The Placement Cell also organized internship opportunities for the collective student body. As of March 2018, about 320 companies successfully recruited interns through the Placement Cell of LSR during this year. Nearly 300 internship offers were rolled out with over 150 industry giants like Nestle, Dell, Bloomberg, AIGto name a few. Over 150 paid internships were offered to the students. The highest internship offer stands at INR 1,50,000 for 2 months. The average stipend for paid internships was nearly INR 9,750 per month. The placement cell is professionally executed. However, the placement process is restrictive and biased in the sense that students are categorised and made to sit for placements based on their discipline, not interests and abilities. Like only corporates come for economics and commerce, completely neglecting the fact that students of these disciplines might be interested in other fields too, fields as variable as wildlife protection, editing, journalism, etc.
There are various companies visiting the campus for internships like HC, Mazzares. Etc. The average package is up to INR 9 to 10 lakhs p.a and the highest was INR 18 lakhs and the alumina network is very efficient.
There are no internships available. Companies that hire from our campus are Standard Chartered, Nomura, etc. The average salary package offered is Rs.7.5 LPA.
The placement cell of the college has succeeded in getting some top notch companies in the college, and now the recruiters include some big names like McKinsey, Bain Capability Center, IMS Health, AbInbev, all the big fours, etc. The average package was around INR 5 lakhs p.a.
