The inception of Kamala Nehru College New Delhi was on 20th July 1964 in the memory of Smt Kamala Nehru, who was the wife of Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. In the beginning, it was known as ‘Government College for Women’ and was located in Defence Colony. Initially, the college offered courses only in humanities and later on commerce stream was added. In 1974, on the Founder’s Day occasion, Mrs. Indira Gandhi visited the new building for the college and unveiled the plaque and planted saplings.
From the beginning, this institution has passed through many efficient and excellent administrative bodies and faculties, which resulted in shaping up many talented students from the institution. Though it's a women's college the college itself keeps its support and necessary enhancement for women empowerment in bringing up the students to the different areas of the professional world. During her venture Kamala Nehru College made remarkable collaborations with universities abroad on academic as well as cultural fronts and stepped into the Golden Jubilee Year 2014, carrying in substantial changes with a greater vision of producing more confident, responsible and dignified young citizens for the country. Among other colleges of Delhi University, Kamala Nehru College stands in the frontline of 'A' Grades as accredited by NAAC.

The Placement Cell at Kamala Nehru College was instituted in 2006 and since its inception it has been an integral part of the college. The college has provided complete infrastructure for effective functioning of the cell. MISSION Since its foundation the aim of the Placement Cell has been two fold: firstly making the students aware of the varieties of options available to them after their graduation for higher education in various courses (in India as well as abroad) as well as jobs opening in various sectors; secondly in developing and familiarizing the soft skills which they would require to enter the job market. Academics & FacultyThe overall experience is excellent. You make some great friends for a lifetime and the memories you will cherish for the rest of your life. The teachers are really good they teach you with energy and are always enthusiastic. The class usually start at 9 and wind up till 3.
