The institution was found by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes in the year 1966 and the institution is affiliated to Bangalore Central University. JNC offers excellent facilities for the students for better academics. The college has a computerized central library with over 30000 books and 75 periodicals and a number of journals. The magnificent auditorium is of modern architecture and has a good intake capability. The food court inside the campus provides healthy and delicious food to the students at a reasonable rate. JNC has a multi gymnasium which well equipped with 3 lakh worth accessories.
The campus has a branch of Vijaya Bank which offers regular banking service. The indoor games room has space for different indoor games such as Table Tennis, Chess, Carom, etc. The college has a Zumba fitness room with instructors for focusing more on fitness. As a Christian college, the campus has a chapel within the premise for the spiritual enhancement of students. The college also offers hostel facility for students.

Admissions to the various courses in the institution will be based on merit. Students who fulfill the eligibility criteria can apply. Candidates can download the application form from the official website of the college. Admissions will be based on the interview held at the college and the aggregate score of the candidates in their corresponding degree. MCA and MBA applicants must qualify in C MAT/ KMAT/ PGCET or any other national level tests. Applicants must have to submit the relevant documents along with the application while applying.
Jyoti Nivas college admissions will be based on a certain cut off criteria. Students who applied for the UG courses will be sorted based on their aggregate and academic performance, on the other hand, Jyoti Nivas Cut Off for the PG courses like MBA and MCA will be mainly focused on their scores from eligibility tests such as CAT/ CMAT/ KMAT/ PGCET, etc. Scores of the students from Personal interview and GD are also considered for cut off.
An Accommodation facility is offered by the institution for the students and equipped with all the basic requirements. The college campus area is spread across 38786.60 square metres. The campus consists of an administrative block, degree block, post graduate block, pre university block and a research centre. The administrative block houses the office of the principal, office manager, reception, accounts office, examination cell, AV room, studio, IGNOU center, documentation room and computer labs. I completed my internship from Thomas Cook Banglore, as was pursuing Travel and Tourism Management though one can go complete there internship from hotels or government tourism offices as well. But it has to be service industry related.
Companies like IT, Non-IT, BPO, KPO, Banks, hospitality sections have visited colleges. Goldman Sachs, J.P Morgan, MindTree, Wipro, SAP-labs, Cognizant, Infosys, Accenture, IBM, Reuters, Honey wells, Earnest + Young and the roles taken by people are also promising for eg;- Public Relation Officier, Marketing, Tax Analyst, Developers, etc..
Note- The students pursuing placement course are eligible to sit for placements.
Average salary is based on which company hires you and it diversifies with how a student performs in the interview.

There are a number of scholarships available, but you will have to contact the college administration department to find out about the ongoing availability of the same.
Academics & FacultyThe teaching staff is very good (except for one or two subjects here and there over the period of 3 years). The methodology of teaching is not exclusive as such, the same old school way of teaching but it works well with us so there is no complaining. Though I'd have to make a special mention of my Finance teacher (who taught us the subject as a major in third year) who had exemplary skills of explanation. Apart from the teaching, the ambience is very good, especially location-wise considering the proximity to a number of food joints, hang out areas for students etc. The canteen (2-3 at that time) had a reasonably good variety and kept us from wanting to go out to eat very often. (best momos!)

The placements are good for the students of Commerce and Management whereas not so good for the students of Arts and Science. It might be because most of the students of arts and science opt for higher studies. The placement training sessions begin in the month of July and date are allowed for various topics such as Resume writing, communication, aptitude test, time management, personal interview etc. These sessions are also covered by industrial experts.
