Infrastructure: The hostels are decent with the good Wi-Fi facility and hygiene. The academic blocks are nothing exceptional but still a good place to be with the good labs. The library is exceptional, and it marked to be one of the biggest in India. VIT has a huge space for sports and the other extra cultural activities. They provide two football grounds, more than two basketball, and volleyball court along with a gym facility both indoor and outdoor on the campus.

The infrastructure is pretty great. There are two college hostels (boys and girls), canteens, cafe's, auditorium, library, labs and spacious classrooms. There are 3-4 wifi networks working at different places throughout the campus. There are a lot of options available for people looking for PGs around the campus at reasonable prices. The food is tasty as well as affordable and there is a great variety.

  • Creation and enhancement of infrastructure is an ongoing process in Hindu College. Even though the College has been in the present location for more than sixty years, it is able to cope with pressures of the modern requirements of a teaching-learning institution.
  • The foremost consideration while enhancing infrastructure in the College has been to see that it is optimally functional and that it meets the present requirements of the students and staff of College while being future-proof as far as it can be envisaged.
  • Efforts are being made to maximize the use of ICT to make the campus user-friendly for persons with disabilities, to enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of students as well as to accentuate their learning experience.
  • To achieve these ends, considerable brainstorming is done between the Principal and the various Staff Council Committees.

  • Currently there is a boy's hostel which is functioning for years and the girls hostel is to start from this current session. I don't have an idea about the fee structure. Although the food of the mess is considered average.
  • PG options are available which cost around INR 10000 per month.
  • College canteen is quite good and affordable and a student with INR 30 to 40 in pocket can have a nice meal.
  • Infrastructure wise college library contains an enormous and a rich collection of books which is air conditioned.
  • College campus has a strong Wi-Fi network.

Hi Sweta,

Hostel Facilities

Hostels in academic institutions are the epicenter of the dynamics of the campus life.  Spread over vast area and surrounded by green cover, encompassing gardens, inside and outside lawns, Hindu College Hostel, for over a half century has been providing fuel and force to the life and motion of College’s liberal democratic academic culture. Hindu College Hostel, with its architectural grandeur and aesthetics, has been an abode to many luminaries in a wonderful kaleidoscope that the time-space spectrum is.
Situated next to the sports complex, the Hostel is a spacious structure with 119 rooms enclosing eight lawns with rose beds and hedges. The Hostel provides residential facilities to about two hundred undergraduate and postgraduate male students. The Common Room provides the residents recreational facilities such as Table-tennis, Carom-board, Chess-board, and a separate TV room apart from the newspapers and magazines to keep them on the qui vive.
Admissions are strictly on the basis of merit and the resident students are expected to maintain the spirit of camaraderie and dignity. The guiding principle for the Hindu College community has been to uphold democratic and egalitarian values and strive towards intellectual excellence.

Administration

The Hostel is managed by the Hostel Committee which is constituted by the Staff Council of the College and executed by the Warden in consultation with the Principal.

Dr. Poonam Sethi ,Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce is the current Warden.

The Hostel Office and the Warden’s Residence, located within the Hostel premises, are integral part of the Hostel. There are several employees to look after the daily chores in the hostel. They include an office clerk, a mess manager, mess/room bearers, cooks, watchmen, janitors, gardener and a few others for kitchen and pantry work. In addition, there is a dry cleaner and a newspaper vendor to provide services to the resident students. The health services are made available to the residents by the WUS Health Center located within the University Campus.
