Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Gunupur is affiliated to the Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela. It is approved by AICTE. It has been placed under consideration for the status of the University with Potential for Excellence by the UGC. GIET has been granted autonomy by BPUT.

GIET Admission is based on the past academic merit along with the score secured in its own entrance examination called GIET Entrance Examination [GIETEE]. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma courses in the field of engineering, science, and management. It has an excellent placement record.

Gandhi Institute, Gunupur is the only college in East India and 2nd in India to acquire a 3.20 out of 4 point grade system by NAAC. It is approved by AICTE to admit foreign nationals and PIO's. Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology Courses:

GIET, Gunupur offers good standards of education and has been conferred Autonomous Status by UGC and the Biju Patnaik University of Technology from the academic session 2017-18. It now sets its own exam schedule and designs curriculum based on the university guidelines. It offers the following courses. 

GIET B.Tech:

All the popular streams are offered by the institute along with niche specializations like Robotics and Food Engineering. B. Tech is a 4 years course. There are several specialized laboratories to give hands-on training in the various aspects of engineering such as CAD/ CAM Lab, Fluid Mechanics, and Hydraulic Machines Lab, Microbiology Lab, Molecular Biology Lab, Bio-Instrumentation Lab, etc.

GIET M.Tech:

M.Tech is a 2-year course for which admission occurs through GATE or through GIETEE, the institute's own entrance exam. Various specializations are offered such as Construction Technology, Machine Design, etc.

GIET MBA:

The MBA programs are offered in the Gandhi Institute of Management Studies, a B-school located on the same campus, affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology & approved by AICTE as well as accredited by NAAC. It is soon to start an executive MBA and a Ph.D. program.

GIET has accredited itself with Infosys, Wipro, Honeywell, etc to conduct placement due to the quality of education it offers. It is the authorised centre of Cambridge English Language Assessment for Business English Certificates (BEC), Training & Examination Centre. Its courses offered below thus come with an advantage.

Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology Admissions:

The admissions to the post-graduation course are based on merit in the qualifying examination along with the score secured in the GATE exam/ GIETEE. The admission can be done online.

For B.Tech admission, JEE Main authorities publish two merit lists, one all India merit list and the other for Odisha state candidates and GIET Cut Off list is given. Around 25% of the seats are available for pan India students to compete.

GIET Hostel Details:

Within the campus, the college has separate hostels for boys and girls totaling 32. The capacity is 3500 students.
