Brahmananda Keshab Chandra College (BKC College), Kolkata was established in 1956. The college is affiliated to the West Bengal State University. The college has been established with the aim of filling a vacuum in higher education in North 24 Parganas and has always striven to excel in creating capable citizens of India The college believes in the idea that education does not consist in mere learning; but involves fostering a sense of social responsibility among its students, the future agents of social change. It is with these aims that the college has been moving ahead, contributing to the cause of education and hopes to do so in the years to come.

Women's Hostel

The college felt the serious accommodation problem of its girl students coming from distant areas and appealed to the University Grants Commission for financial assistance. The University Grants Commission had sanctioned a grant under Women Hostel Development Scheme for constructing Women's Hostel in the college premises in the year 2005. On Jobs Training :-

Final year students of the department of Industrial Fish and Fisheries Major have to undertake on-job training at different Central and State Government departments and Institute such as ICAR, KVK. This training is self-financed.

Free Studentship/ Stipend/ Students Aid Fund :-

Depending on the parent/guardian's income and satisfactory academic record, students are awarded free or half-free studentship. Financial aid is awarded at the end of each academic year from the Students Aid Fund to needy students. Application for such should be made in appropriate forms to be had from the office when notified.
