About Ramgarh College, Ramgarh
Being a small town of historical importance remained under the dark of backwardness and illiteracy till the beginning of sixth decade of the 20th century. However, many students of the urban and rural area were interested for higher education. Realizing this necessity the noble idea for opening a college in the town came into the mind of a few conscious citizens of the town. Subsequently Ramgarh College, Ramgarh Cantt. Was established in March, 1963. The Bihar State University Service Commission, Patna granted permanent affiliation to the college on 27th April 1968 under Ranchi University, Ranchi for Arts faculty and in 1972 for Commerce. Affiliation of Science was granted in 1983. The college was registered under section 2(f) of UGC Act.
The college becomes a Constituent Unit of Ranchi University in November 1980 now the college comes under the Vinoba Bhave University; Hazaribag from 17.09.1992 after from bifurcation Ranchi University and it caters to the need of the students of whole Ramgarh district for both urban as well as rural area. The college building is situated in a very healthy atmosphere adjacent to NH 33 and surrounded by full a natural sight. The college possesses a total area of almost 14.23 acre. Besides arts, Science & Commerce teaching, Advance Diploma course in Computer is also running along with.
In the college premises Indira Gandhi National Open University has established its study centre (3648) for BDP (B.A & B.Com courses) from July session 2008.
