We have a plethora of clubs on campus catering to every interest a student could think of. We have both performing(music, dance, drama) and non-performing clubs(finance, consulting, robotics) clubs. Then there are departments, which handle fest-related matters. We have three fests: Waves (cultural), Quark (tech), and Spree (sports). Needless to say, Waves is the biggest and grandest fest.
There are 17 boys hostels and 2 girls hostels. Most of the rooms are single rooms, although you might get a two-sharing room in your first year at least. All the students compulsorily have to stay on campus except in certain cases when their family stays in Goa. We have three dining halls and numerous eateries on campus. The food is not spectacular, but better than you'd expect from a college mess. The mess fare is already paid for in the semester fee. They also become night canteens from 11 pm to 2 am, in case anyone has any late-night cravings!
Our classrooms and labs are air-conditioned and well maintained. We have a huge library as well. WiFi is usually satisfactory, but we sometimes have speed issues. There is also a daily data limit of 3 GB (increases to 5 GB during exams), and many websites are blocked.
Our daily academic schedule is from 8 am to 5 pm. BITS offers a lot of flexibility in choosing our professors, electives, timings, and so on. It's one of the best things about studying at this institution. You can choose whatever timing suits you and your routine. Moreover, we have a zero attendance policy. One caveat here: Depending on the professor/ course, there might be a weightage of attendance in your final grade, and you need to attend your labs. All "zero-attendance" means is that there is no minimum attendance threshold for attending your final end-semester exams.
The quality of teaching varies from below average to amazing, just like in any other college. The quality of most of the faculty in the electronics department hovers around average. But you'd have to work hard to succeed in the electronics branch, harder than other branches.
Birla Institute of Technology and Science, [BITS ] South Goa Fee Structure. The fee for my course is Rs 2,00,000 per semester.
While that may be a teeny bit on the higher side, a lot of scholarship options are available. Most common, are the MCN (Merit cum Need) and merit-based scholarships. There are criteria to qualify for each scholarship.
Also, loans are easily available at nominal interest rates from SBI.
BITS has a great system for internships. There are two compulsory internships, called Practice School 1 and 2. Practice school 1 helps in the summer after the second year, while practice school 2 lasts for a whole semester in the fourth year. Companies also visit the campus in the first semester of the third year for summer internships after the third year which you can apply voluntarily. Most of those companies are in the IT field, although there are a few companies taking students for roles in core engineering.
Our placements happen over two semesters in the fourth year. The first semester is reserved for electronics, mechanical and chemical profiles, while the second semester features companies in non-core domains like data analytics. IT/software profiles visit the campus in both semesters.
Our highest salaries can go up to 30 LPA CTC (and beyond), but they are usually around 10-15 LPA. Usually, over 90% of the batch gets placed.
Eligibility criteria are to score at least 75% in your 12th boards. I took the BITSAT exam to gain admission. It has five sections: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and logical reasoning. For Electrical and Electronics Engineering, my cutoff was 331, but it usually varies from 320 to 330.
The admission process for goa institute of mangement starts with entrance tests ( CAT,CMAT,GMAT,XAT) . after passing their criteria of entrance tests there is a group discussion round with other students, followed by a personal interview.
if you meet all these criteria you could also end up getting a spot offer .
Waves the cultural fest is the main festival. Clubs on campus are not worth. They just exist for outings and other bullshit stuff. They hardly do any work.
16 hostels in total with nice infrastructure and fees per month being 22k(INR) P.A. No PGs allowed. All students have to stay on the campus in the hostels. Foor is bullshit. Only a day or two is good in a month. Cost per meal is Rs.40(INR). Classrooms, Labs, and academic buildings are good and wifi is also good. Works fine but the only problem is the internet limit with 2GB of data per day.
Dialy routine is excellent. Students have the freedom to choose time table suiting them. Projects and assignments are minimum allowing students to work in their own interest. Teachers are good but not that good. They teach as they wish.
Fees are high, of about 4 lakhs(INR) per annum. Scholarships are available on the basis of CGPA attained. Some people do apply for loans. Easiest can be done by SBI bank within the campus.
Average salary this year for CSE branch went to 22 lakhs(INR) P.A. with 100 percent placement.
The year of your class 12 boards and the following year. The entrance exam is BITSAT. Cutoffs vary every year with the number of seats.
We have clubs like a Dance club, Drama club, cricket club, Basketball club, Nirmaan, Abhigyaan, Udaan and Divya.
We have 14 hostels (12 boys + 2 girls) on our campus. Each student gets his/her own room. Hostel room provides all necessary furniture and every hostel has a common room.
We have 2 messes on our campus along with 4 to 5 food outlets. Mess fee is INR 110 per day for your breakfast, lunch and dinner together. Standard of classrooms, lecture halls and lab infrastructure is pretty much high.
Students are supposed to attend 4 lectures and lab sessions a day. We have zero attendance policy. You can decide whether to attend a lecture or to invest your time in other productive work for career development. The student even has the flexibility to adjust his/her own timetable and choose instructor also. Apart from compulsory courses, student has to complete 3 humanities and 4 disciplinary electives and 5 open electives (courses of any other branch/department if you are interested).
The fee is INR 1,80,000 per semester. Students under 6 lakh annual income can apply for merit cum need scholarship. Merit Students can apply for the merit scholarship. Students from the weak economic background can apply for student aid fund. Educational loans are provided on the campus itself. We have a branch of SBI on the campus itself.
I am currently doing my internship in Ideas with INR 25,000 as a stipend. We have good placements. Bits have a very strong alumni network all over the world.
Candidate must clear the BITSAT exam and must have passed the 12th from a recognized institute to get admission in this college. Minimum 300 cutoff mark is required.
Class timing is from 9 am to 5 pm. Excellent quality and method of teaching. Awesome experience in college.
The course fee is 2 lakh overall. A scholarship is available for students scoring above 9 CGPA grade. Yes, a loan is needed and it is very easily available from SBI.
I have not done an internship. Microsoft, Google, Flipkart, Amazon, and Snell are some companies that come for placements with an average salary package of 12 lakhs per annum and the highest package was 1.44 crore per annum. There is 100% placement record. I don't know about the alumni network.
Eligibility criteria is a minimum of 75% in 12th board exam. I gave the BITSAT entrance exam.
With advance knowledge, there are good job opportunities.
The academic career in science is excellent.
