Bhilai Institute of Technology, [BIT] Durg was established in the year 1986 by Bhilai Institute of Technology Trust in the memory of Seth Balkrishnan. It was the first self-financed college in the state. The institute is approved by AICTE. It is accredited by NAAC 'A' Grade and NBA. The institution is affiliated to Chattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University [CSVTU]. Bhilai Institute of Technology admission are conducted through Central Online Counseling.

The college offers various courses such as BE, M.Tech, MCA, MBA and Ph.D programs in various specializations. The faculty of BIT has published research papers in various countries. They have experience in their relevant field.
