IIM Calcutta PhD or doctoral program is a full-time course spanning over 6 terms. The course is offered in two streams: Doctoral Program in Management and Doctoral Programme in Disciplines Related to Management. The former covers Management Information Systems, Marketing, and Operations Management specializations and the latter offers Operations Research & Systems Analysis, Regional Development, and Sociology.

IIM Calcutta PhD admission to the doctoral program in respective subjects is done through entrance exams like GMAT/ GRE/ GATE/ UGC-JRF. This is followed by Research Proposal and Personal Interview.

IIM Calcutta PhD Eligibility Criteria

IIM Calcutta PhD eligibility criteria include a Master of PGD of 3-year duration with 50% aggregate. Students who have completed CA or CS/ICWA with a B.Com degree and have scored an aggregate of 55% can also apply for admission. Similarly, students who have completed their B.Tech with a CGPA of 6.5 are eligible for application.

IIM Calcutta PhD Admission

IIM Calcutta PhD admission 2023 will start with entrance exams like CAT/ GMAT/ GRE or JRF. The subjects of JRF-NET depend on the subject of choice for the doctoral courses. The submission of the application is followed by Research Proposal and Personal Interview. Though submitting a research proposal is not compulsory, it is encouraged. The Admission Committee at IIM Cal prefers students with a clear idea of their research and educational journey.

IIM Calcutta PhD admission procedure includes the following steps. Before applying, students must go through the admission brochure properly and understand the eligibility criteria. The application announcement is also made in various newspapers.

• Select "New Registration".
• Register using your contact information, such as your phone number.
• The system will give applicants a user ID and password for later usage.
• Students will receive a user ID and password after submission.

Entrance Exam

The eligible IIM Calcutta PhD entrance exams are GMAT/ GRE/ GATE/ UGC-JRF. The institute does not conduct its own entrance test for PhD admission.

IIM Calcutta PhD Fees

IIM Calcutta PhD course is a 3-year doctoral program offered to students. This course is offered in various specializations too. However, there is no tuition fee for PhD courses. IIM Calcutta offers a stipend of INR 30,000 to all doctoral candidates. This amount, however, increases to INR 35,000 per month depending on their academic performance.

Additionally, each student is eligible for Student Development Fund, which can be used to pay for books and computers, conduct field research, and attend academic conferences. These grants are available for the first year of study, up to INR 65,000, and for successive years, up to INR 25,000.
