About Hans Raj College, Delhi University

Hans Raj College, New Delhi was established in 1954. It is a constituent college of the University of Delhi and a premier institution of the DAV Managing Committee-the largest non-government educational organization of the country. The college offered preparatory courses in Arts and Sciences, BA in Sanskrit, Hindi, English and Mathematics. An honor in economics was added after some time. The post-graduate courses were also conducted in the university while the college only managed their tutorial schemes.Hans Raj College is a premier institution of the North Campus of Delhi University; the college is a center of great attraction. The teaching community of the college is the greatest asset of the college. The faculty members have made a significant contribution not only to the corporate life of the college but also shaped the academic, social and cultural life of the nation.

Eligibility Criteria of Hans Raj College, Delhi University

  • Bachelors degree is a must for master course from any recognized university
  • An aggregate of 50% is required
  • 10+2 graduation is a requirement for any bachelor's course
  • The aggregate marks range between 50% to 70%
  • Admissions are done on the basis of cut offs 

Admission Procedure for Hans Raj College, Delhi University

  • Forms incomplete in any respect will be rejected.
  • Seeking admission on the basis of false identity, misrepresentation or by submitting false certificates/documents in unlawful and will cause cancellation of admission. Such cases may be reported to the police.

EXAMINATIONS RECOGNIZED BY UNIVERSITY OF DELHI

  • Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto.
  • Pre-University Examination/ Pre-Medical Examination (2 years after 10 years of schooling) of an Indian University recognized by the University of Delhi.
  • Intermediate Examination of an Indian University/ Board or an Examination recognized as equivalent thereto.
  • Indian School Certificate Examination (12 years) of the Council of Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
  • General Certificate of Education Examination of U.K. Pass in five subjects at ordinary level and at least two at the advanced level.
  • These two advanced level courses may either be chosen from among the five ordinary level subjects or from outside this group as prescribed by the University of Delhi
  • If the GCE certificate mentions grades, these will be treated at par with the grades of the ISCE for the purpose of admission requirements.

Note:

  • Applications from students who have not passed from the above-mentioned examination bodies may be considered if accompanied by an Eligibility Certificates issued by the University of Delhi.
  • Students passing an eleven-year school examination are not eligible for admission to undergraduate courses in the University of Delhi\Admission through University/ Faculty/ Department
  • Admission to M.A. / M.Sc./M.Com. classes is made through the relevant University faculty. 
  • Foreign Students- Admission of foreign students is handled by the Foreign Student's Adviser, Foreign Students' Registrar, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi. No foreign student is admitted by the College unless he/she produces a letter from the foreign Student's Adviser, University of Delhi, regarding his/her eligibility.

GEN/SC/ST/OBC/PH Students

  • After the declaration of the cut-off lists, the student will need to report to the College for admission within the stipulated period specified in the admission schedule. The student is then required to fill the College admission form and the University enrolment form. The student would get his/her documents verified and pay their admission fees.
  • The applicants shall be required to produce following documents in original with two sets of self-attested photocopies at the time of admission:
    Class X Board Examination Certificate
    Class X Marks-Sheet
    Class XII Marks-Sheet
    Class XII Provisional Certificate/ Original Certificate
    Character Certificate (recent)
    SC/ST Certificate (in the name of the candidates) issued by the competent authority
    OBC (non-Creamy Layer) Certificate (in the name of the Candidates) issued by the competent authority. If a certificate is more than one year old than proof of income/ income certificate is also required.
    Transfer Certificate from school/ college as well as Migration Certificate from those students who have passed senior secondary exam from outside Delhi
    At least two passport size self-attested photographs.
  • The University will accept self-attested copies of documents/ papers provided by the students. It is made clear that if any false attestation/ falsified records are detected, the student will be debarred from attending any course in the University/ or its Colleges for next five years and in addition, a criminal case under relevant sections of IPC (viz.470,471,474 etc.) will be instituted against him/ her.

  • The class timings at Hans Raj College are from 8:40 am to 5:00 pm in which we have around 4 hours of labs and rest time we have theory classes.
  • According to the new guidelines of Delhi university, some of our marks are given on continuous evaluation which includes Tests, mock practicals, class performance, and assignments.
  • Since the course is semester based so we have two semesters in a year, even semester (July to December) and odd semester (January to May).
  • The quality of teaching is good. Teachers are very helpful.
